Tank Flush

I have a Montana HC 295 RL. There's a port in the convenience center called Tank Flush. Is this port for the black tank? Also, there is a warning label above the port that says "do not use the tank flush valve unless the fullway termination valve is in the open position". What is "the fullway termination valve"? Thanks

Yup, the Tank Flush is for the black tank. The fancy wording is advising you not to try and flush while the gate valve for the black tank is closed. There are many occurrence here is folks "forgetting" they had the flusher going with the valve closed until it erupts over the roof.

That said, many of us run the flusher with the gate closed to add water to the tank to increase the hydraulic effect when you open the valve. Personally, I run about 8 minutes at 60 P.S.I. of water before opening the valve. YMMV depending on how full the tank is to begin with.

Termination valve simply means your black tank slide valve outlet. Where you dump the black tank.

We each do it slightly different. Because my black and bathroom grey tank discharge at the same port (2 valves), I use a Flush King (3rd valve attached) and backflush the grey water into the black, usually 3 times, then when water is available, do a final black tank flush after the 3rd backflush.

And them, sometimes, I'll use the black tank flush (garden hose connected) to add more liquid to the black tank to make the first dump better. Then proceed with my back-flush process.

There are options when using the black tank flush, opposed to running extra water down the toilet, or back-flushing from the grey tank. Each process helps pull more crud out of the black tank.

I do similar to Carl, but gave up on trying to time it because of the different flow rates and pressure encountered in different CGs. I now have an inline Flow Meter, $10 to $15 on Amazon so I know exactly how much water I'm putting in.

I do same as Michelle and Ann. I also meter the water I put in our fresh tank, so I know I'm only travelling with 10 gallons, not 50.

Flow meter is a great idea... I might have to invest in one.

Right now I either don't walk away (I like to fill some with the flusher like Carl and Susan) or I set a 3 or 4 minute timer my phone.

The timer is a really good idea for not forgetting and over filling your tank, but you still really never know how much water you are putting in without a meter.
It could take 2 minutes to fill a 5 gallon bucket or it could take 12 minutes depending upon flow rate.
I also use my meter to add fresh water so that I only travel with about 10-12 gallons. Enough for flushing and washing, but not a lot of additional unnecessary weight.

Welcome to the MOC and ya what they said! I like the idea of a flow meter.

I do similar but after I dump I refill the black tank and let it set for a few days or weeks and repeat a time or two.

I also use a flow meter and a clear plastic sewer elbow. With the flow meter, one can fill the tank 90% + and dump it. I flush the tank 3x this way and stop once the water is clear as it exits the tank.
