My Short Trip Towing Experience

Recently purchased a 5th Wheel Montana (3475 RL). I already had a tow vehicle that was used with a different 5ver that I traded in. I was concerned my Silerado 2500 HD 8.1 Allison Gas Truck may be a bit sluggish towing the Montana. I put on Firestone Airbags which definitely made all the difference. Had to trael 2.5 hours from one location to another and found to be very pleased with the power the Chevy had. I went up a few thousand lbs between the old and new RV, not including the contents. I kept the Chevy in tow haul and stayed around 55. When I had to accelerate there was a bit of diffence compared to the ligher RV but still the power was there. So, with this setup I am very happy and pleasantly surprised. Was not so sure but glad it worked out.

Frank,
So glad to hear your truck did the job. There is no better feeling on the road than having a truck that comes through with flying colors. Hope the next trip is just as successfull!!!

Welcome aboard, Frank. There are several in this forum with the same truck you are using and they are very happy with them. I think you'll find it will do a fine job for you. Congratulations on the new rig and welcome aboard.
