Opening Slides still hooked up
Hi everyone, I hope this finds you well? I think I may have a silly question, but since I'm un-sure going to ask anyway. Is it ok to open your slides while still attached to your tow vehicle? Appreciate any help you can provide!

Do it all the time, provided the site is close to level front to back. Well put the Level-Up into manual mode, get close to level front to back, then work on side to side.
We're actually set-up for two weeks on Sanibel Island, Florida and TV is still connected and using our Malibu for daily trips. It follows the TV/RV combo using an Invisable tow bar LOL.

We do almost the same thing. Usually, if we are close to level, we'll put down the front jacks so the hitch doesn't allow side to side movement and then put out at least the bedroom slide. Works particularly well when staying overnight. We also have a Prius that follows us so side trips are easy.

We do it for overnight stays or breaks when we are traveling. As others have said, lower the front jacks to stabilize and the rear if it is an overnight stay.

I've stopped over night a few times without unhitching. I just try to get as level as possible and put them all out.
Also, when trip prepping, I don't unhitch, but I run the passenger side slides out until I'm ready to leave and run the other slides out to access the bedroom and main pantry. Since those are on the driver (street) side, I pull them in when I'm finished.

Nothing wrong as long as you don't go moving the RV much and get it on it's jacks smoothly. Any jerking will not be great for the slides but as long as you go slow it's fine.

We also put out slides if we stop at a rest area for lunch. As others have said, get as level as you can then put out slides. We usually only put one slide out for lunch.

We do it all the time at rest stops. Just the kitchen slide. Rest stops are usually level. Then we start up the Gen to power the microwave to heat up lunch  Overnight stays we do all 4 slides hitched up...no problem.

Many if not most dealers will tell you not to do it but owners will tell you they do it all the time. Guess only time will tell whether it's a good move or not.
