New or used hitch

I have a B&W turn over hitch and was looking at the Companion Hitch from B&W about $699. to $799. I found one ad said used only twice for $300. what is the idea of buying used good or bad ?

If it's not damaged, I don't see any reason not to consider it.

I agree with NCfishers 100%. If the hitch is not a rust bucket or is not damaged, then I don't see why a used one is not so bad. Some wear is expected, but within reason. Is there some way you can see it before purchase?

Certainly worth a look. You should be able to tell if it has been abused in any way. Likely someone bought it, found he did not really use/need it, and decided to get rid of it. May be a great deal.

We have the B & W Hitch and really like it. I go for the used for that money, take a look at the jaws, pins and rubber saddles that the fifth wheel hitch sits on horizontally. If you see no wear, it is like new and was only used three times you've got yourself a great deal and a superior hitch.

I just sold my 16K Reese slider for $400 and it was 7 years old. Sounds like a good deal.

Bob I would'n hesitate one minute in buyig a used Companion 5th wheel hitch. I had the B&W turnover ball and the Companion 5th wheel hitch. And the reason I let it go was because of the 18,000 lb capacity on the Companion, the turnover ball is 30,000 lb . It is a well built system and the best static hitch I have ever owned. However I have had two Trailer Saver Air ride 5th wheel hitches. And if your going to continue pulling a 5th wheel thats the way I would go, and it does just what the name implies "Trailer Saver" takes a lot of stress off the frame. GBY...
