Hey Charlie
I have lived in Michigan since I was 3. I am a bit over that now!
We were gone 2004, but not till mid January
2005, not sure, think left here late January
2006 and 07, left here Dec 27 to Dec 29, last year left Dec 18th. for the 08 season.
we cleaned snow EVERY year, SIGHHH
When I was a kid I lived about 90 miles north of here, I remember a lot of snow, but, don't recall one way or other if it stayed all winter, I do remember my mother getting stuck in the spring, every spring it seemed, up to the bottom of the auto door, so that she had to climb out the passenger door and then muck out to a phone and get towed.
Since I married back a few years, okkkkk, 41 years ago, Al and I pretty much lived in Wayne County, so, about another 15 to 20 miles north of here, we had some loo loo snows, and cept for maybe 1978, it would snow, melt, snow, melt, I don't recall it ever staying like this for 3 months without having a total snow melt.
Al and I moved out here in 1995, and, we had even more snow melt, and seems longer times without the white stuff.
We don't live in what is normally considered a area that gets hit hard with lake effect snow. It has been very rare for us to get that here. Over on Lake Michigan, ohhh, they get it, look at some numbers for Grand Rapids, for example, Whew, now, that is snow.
I still am having trouble remembering a winter where the snow did not all melt from Turkey Day till almost the 1st of March. Maybe it is that ole leaky ole timers brain stuff.

Well, here it is. A week later, we had a warm up for a couple days and now the snow is gone. Below freezing for today and tomorrow, but then thru next week, it is suppose to warm up into the low 40's.
Anyway, camping starts at Twin Mills in 6 weeks. Starting to get stuff around for the couple of projects I want to do before I dewinterize the coach. Such as put in a new stainless steel galley sink for Mrs. "B".

Are you taking about the Twin Mills just east of Howe??

I must be in the bannana belt Bill as I have 50 this morning in Mission. Wind is blowing so wind chill is definitely lower. As I type I am watching the couple across the road hook up to leave and they are all bundled up in winter jackets, hats, and gloves.

Carol, I'm just south of the border by 7 miles as the crow flies. I know that you aren't much more than about 40 miles from Elkhart, if I remember correctly. Could be wrong.
IFW, That is exactly the campground I'm talking about. We've had a seasonal site there since we first started RVing in May of '04. If you ever go there, don't hesitate to look us up. We are on lot W-70 in Wispering Pines on the south side of St Rd 120. And that goes for anyone in this forum!!

I feel for you all that are in the cold temperatures! Really I do. Been there done that!
We have had some cool weather here in AZ this winter. Some days were in 50s and 60s. Today is supposed to be 87. We are leaving here in about 3 weeks until next fall we will be back. Going to travel during summer.

Know the area well ... grew up about 10 miles east of there in a very small town. Lived in Elkhart for about 10 years, transfred to FL , lived in Sarasota for 34 years, now in TN for 4 years. Thinking strong about going full time..
We will be in that area around the first of May is all goes according to plan.

Dale, we are about 120 miles east from Goshen, near Toledo Ohio and Ann Arbor Michigan. By going east, we actually moderate in the weather area, cept this year. In the past, even when we lived in Wayne County, (before 1995), to play at winter sports you really had to go to Gaylord, or other areas north, as we could not count on having snow on any given weekend. This year, DOWN here in the south of Michigan, I believe you could have played in snow any weekend from December 20 to February 5th, give or take!
Tonights forecast is for wind chill of about 15 below. Yummy!

Well, all of you folks can show up at Twin Mills any time you want.
Ifw, if you can, come up to Twin Mills. Gail and I are usually there every weekend. Would love to meet you.
Emmel, Twin Mills would probably work for the early bird get together.

Carol, why was I thinking you folks lived north of us just off 131? Isn't the a campground on a lake somewhere up there I've heard you talk about?

Not sure why Dale,
We have gone to Gun Lake, Yankee Springs Rec area just south of Grand Rapids a number of times.
Maybe that was it.
