How do you find ULS Diesel Fuel?
Are there any list of stations that carry Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel? Found out on last trip to VA that not all stations or truck stops have it? Almost ran out.

The other question is, when does it become mandatory?

I found one web page that it would become mandatory in 2010. I have the next exit book, but no phone numbers to call to check ahead.

I don't know if there is a list or not www.DieselBuddy.com is what I use. I haven't had a problem with finding ULSD since back in 2007. A lot of the clerks don't have a clue anyway. GBY

In the last year or so we have not found a Flying J that does not have ULSD. At pilots in many cases they MAY not have it at the big truck pumps but will have it at the RV pumps.

James, most national stations have the ultra low diesel. Love stations, Flying J, etc. I usally try to get a station that can allow easy in/out, no low hang and if they have diesel and no easy in/out, I'm outta there.I do find I really scout out more with the rv than just diving the DW Toyota camry. Plan ahead of your fuel needs and all will be fine. It's really a different thought process. Even where the big rigs fuel, I often go right in there with them, usually not up front but toward the back..Good luck and be deliberate. Dennis

If you come to the great white north, ULSD has been mandatory for all road vehicles since 2007.

I must be missing something. I haven't seen a pump that isn't ULSD.

In our travels through the south this year I stopped at places in Pennsylvainia, south carolina and virginia that had the old diesel. The flying J on I 95 in Marion county SC had both, same price. My buddy and I both have the same truck and trailer and typically get the same mileage. We were travelling together on this trip and in south carolina I filled with ULSD and he filled with the old diesel. For that tank of fuel he got almost a full mile per gallon better than me.

I just finished a trip from Kansas to Louisville KY and return. Had no problem with fuel -- all stations I stopped at (8 overall, all different) had ULSD. Pilot had B11 as the only diesel available - put that in and truck ran fine -- wife actually commented that it seemed quieter as well. However, only 2 tanks run , both middle of the drive so it was well diluted both before and after (I filled when 1/2 tank indicated -- worked out well because all of us needed the stop at those points ... ).

In 38,000 miles since June 6, 2006, we've found exactly five stations without ULSD. That 38,000 miles ranges from California to Maine to Texas so is all over the country. Two of the five were Pilot Travel Centers.
What you may be seeing is in states where ULSD is required by law and LSD is not available they are not required to put the sticker on the pump. We always have to ask in those situations. It makes me nervous when I see neither a ULSD nor an LSD sticker.
