New Dodge 2500HD Towing Questions

Just traded my F250 in on a new Dodge 2500HD and am trying to decide how to set it up for towing. We pull a 3650RK Montana and used a standard slider hitch on the Ford. I wanted to get a SuperGlide for the Dodge but have been told that it may not work since the bed on the Dodge is shorter and the axle distance behind the cab is less. The problem appears to be that the king pin sits about 13" back from the leading edge of the camper on the 3650RK. How have others made this work?? I am not excited about putting a pin box extension on but we have to figure out something. HELP??

You didn't mention it but I assume you have a Dodge short box. I had to go out and check the Monty and my pin box extends to the front of the Monty in contrast to your 13 inch set back. I have the Pullrite Superglide and based on my experience you will probably have to get an extended pin box to have it work. A Pullrite dealer can probably best answer your question.

The instructions that came with the hitch should tell you where to put it in relation to the axle. Based on that answer, you'll have to decide if you need an extended pin box.

It'll work just fine. I have the Dodge shortbed with an 18k superglide. I had the same concerns originally. I had a manual slider in our 2005 Ford F250 shortbox. The Dodge box is several inches shorter. However, I measured from cab to axle center on both the Dodge and the Ford and even a new GMC and found just one inch difference in that measurement. The rest of the difference is from the axle back. What you care about for the slider is the cab to axle measurement.

I even have a crossbed toolbox in the front of the bed. It sits no higher than the bedrails, though. It clears the superglide handle by an inch during a turn maneuver. Not all toolboxes will work, though, as some are too deep and the handle will not clear.
