??--"Hot" and "Ground" Wires to Batteries

Our Montana is in storage and I can not easily get to it:

I bought a Blue Sea Battery box for my two 6v batteries in which I run in a series.
http://www.bluesea.com/product.asp?P...62&l1=7462&l2=

Previously, I had the batteries just hanging out, bungee corded together but finally got around to addressing it after reading a post about the issue and PM’ing Padredw.
http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ead.php?t=6579

I figure I will need to lengthen the red wire to make it work right; maybe the white one too. What gauge, type should I being looking for and which place will I be most successful in picking it up?

Thanks!

Rather than tell you what size wire to purchase, it would be better for you to go to any auto supply store (NAPA, AutoZone, PepBoys, etc.) and tell them what you are wanting to do. They will give you the most accurate information as well as having the wire available.

Been there and done that....with Lowe's too. They all were either very cautious or didn't have a clue even with my wire that bridges the two six volt in a series in hand. Unfortunately, that wire doesn't have anything written on it to indicate the gauge or type. I'm just hoping someone can look at their rig to tell me what's written on the insulation or knows off the top of their head what I need to be looking for. I'll look myself or call the dealership if no one can help me out.

The aotumotive area at Wal Mart in the battery section has battery cables. Look for the ones for garden tractors since they have lugs at the ends instead of a battery end.

Smoketrain -
Here is a link that can help you calculate the diameter required:

Hope this helps.

Welding supply places may have grounding wire of the right size, probably about 0 gauge. It's also very flexable, used for solar power apps.

We have a 3670 and Dennis just went out and checked ours. It's AWG #6 wire minimum size you should use--can use bigger if you want. Home Depot, Lowe's or auto parts stores should have it. Get the solderless terminals and just crimp them on.

Our trailer is also wired with AWG #6 wire. Last summer, I wired in a 2nd battery and used #10. Did not notice any problems with it, but yesterday was by the hardware store and picked up enough #6 & terminals to replace it.

Wal-Mart has battery cables in the automotive section. You should use 6 AWG minimum or even better is 4 AWG. i dont think it is nessecary to go any heavier. I believe the original camper battery wiring is 6 AWG.
