Black rubber marks on slide out?
What is the best way to prevent the rubber wiper seals from leaving black rubber marks on the slideout sides? I clean them off all the time but they return.
Does that conditioner for slide seals help? What about using wax?

I do both, marks still appear, but seem easier to clean. Maybe somebody out there has the magic solution.

I wax and lubricate the bulb seals and the marks reappear. However getting them off is way way easy with a clorox wipe.

I believe the black marks on the slides are caused by the slides constantly moving when with the RV is underway. Recently I had my wheels/tires balanced, as I believe they are introducing/responsible for the excessive movement in the top half of the slides. I will report later when we have done another trip out in the 5'er if things are different and the black marks reappear or not?

You will find, as the seals age and start deteriorating, they will leave more rubber marks on the slides, no way to prevent it except when they are bad enough to be real sticky, replace the seals.

Turtle wax, "Bug and Tar" remover works well to get it off. We just washed the whole rig and waxed it with Nufinish Ceramic coating. I like the spray on wipe off. It was easy to wax. I'll be using Camco Slide seal conditioner on the slide wipers. I'll let you know how it goes.

I use the Camco seal conditioner and it helps but doesn't completely eliminate the black streaks.

I have been using 3in1 RV Rubber Care Seal Conditioner.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QL37GPN...v_ov_lig_dp_it
It works well. I also use WD-40 on a rag to wipe off the black streaks and residue. It's amazing how well that works. No hard rubbing, it just wipes off. Easy Peasy.

Removed all the wax and sprayed FTFE dry lubricant, but I’m afraid the marks are back again. Going to clean it all off again and try just Mother’s ceramic coating and see how that goes. Will report?

We use silicone slide lube from Walmart, it helps the seals keep from drying out which in turn leaves less black marks. We also use it clean the black marks off.

Agree with above.... WD40 cleans off that black easily. It also removes (just melts off) road tar splats, and bugs! Follow up with some nice soapy water and rinse.
Also agree with the above... the black from the slide seals occurs when the seals age and begin to deteriorate. The more the deterioration, the more black sticks to the slide. Eventually, the seals will be pitted, and even rip and tear. Soft is OK, but too soft is not!

Thanks for the tips. Just used the WD-40 on a blue towel. Worked like magic.
After wiping, sprayed some wax and shine and it looked good as new.
