Traveler 1000 Dish and Home Dish Service

My S&B has Directv which I'm changing to Dish since I have the Dish Traveler. In the Monty I would like to be able to record and watch a different channel at the same time and be able to watch a different channel on the second TV. If this is possible which equipment do I need. I don't have a problem taking the units out of the home and put in the Monty when going on a trip. I have to get new equipment for the new service in the home anyway. Appreciate any input.

I have a dual DISH DVR in the house, 1 receiver for 2 TV's can watch different shows on different satellites. I don't know if your Traveler is dual LNB.?

We had Dish in our S&B with DVR service. Went FT in 2018 with Hopper 3, Winegard Trav’ler 1000. I installed a hybrid dph-42 switch and two 4K joeys. Everything performs as expected just like it did in our S&B. Three TV’s, 16 recording inputs, watch any channel on any TV. Added a good A/B to allow for ground deployed sk1000.3 for the occasional location where LOS was a problem.

Fireguy. Looking at the specks on the 1000 it states not compatible to the Hopper 3, do you use an adaptor.

That’s is what the dph-42 is for. The 1000 is not a hybrid LNB. The hybrid switch is needed.

Winegard does not recommend because they have not done the testing. This solution is all over the satellite forums. Works great.

I had to go back through my notes but I got mine from solid signal.com

I had an extra hybrid LNB and installed it on my Traveler. Attachment below from Traveler installation manual. I take my Hopper 3 from home when we RV. Installed signal splitter (Amazon) and ran HDMI cable from entertainment center to bedroom tv. We have no problem watching same show on both tv's.

Here is some good reading material regarding options on using Winegard Travler with Hopper 3 including the option of swapping LNB’s.

We use a hybred LNB and a Hopper and a Joey. Works great.

Do you use the wireless or wired Joey.

Salesman sure can aggravate you. I told him other RVers are using Hopper 3's with the dph-42 and a Joey. He said that won't work. And he said the other RVers aren't telling you they are only working 1/2 the time. He said he can't even sell me a Hopper for RV use.

I have ordered Hopper 3 and three Joeys for the house.

I use wired joeys. If you have Montana with KeyTV you will need more equipment from Winegard. There are many threads on here regarding + I believe instructions/manual uploaded on this site as well.

I have a Hopper 3 in my 5tg wheel, works great. Bought the traveler sat system only had to add 1 connection from a different connection which you can get from Amazon for under $100.

We have the same. We attached a 2TB hard drive since we have Wallys. Best to record when you are away or asleep.
