MHC 372rd hepvo for washer, is it reliable?

Second week of full timing. First trial of the washing machine last week we overflowed all over. The hepvo valve in the discharge line wasn’t opening to let the water pass. I put a piece of hose in the discharge pipe and blew. It “popped” open and drained fine. Next two loads worked like a champ. Starting another load today and am nervous it will be stuck closed again. So my question is, are these reliable valves or do I need to babysit them each time? Or maybe it had sat from the manufacturer for several months to cause the issue? It is a 2019.

The only thing about the Hepvo devices is they can get gunked up and not fully close off. I have one directly under the shower drain and one under the bedroom vanity. The shower one I use a small bottle brush occasionally to clean the membrane, but the one under the sink has to be removed to clean it. Other than that, the hepvo devices work very well. When they are installed horizontally, the ribs have to be facing down so the membrane works the way it's supposed to. https://hepvo.com/

Won't work for the washer drain, but in our rig, the other drains all have one of the wire mesh stainers in them. Much easier to clean them than the valve.
