Washing machine hidden clean-out

Sue showed me a maintenance item she wanted me to share with you fine folks here on the Forum.
This needs to be checked from time to time, as 'stuff' can plug the drain holes in it, causing stinky things to happen.
I know not too many have the brand we have, but check your door seal to see if there is a drain there.

Our Splendide has water accumulate there also, but doesn't have a drain. It's a good idea to wipe it out after every wash load.

Ozz, we have the stackable units and I noticed the washer was just like that. Found a pair of clippers in there!

Ozz our washer in the stick and brick has the same thing and it also has another filter(trap) under the tub where the drain runs through and then goes out the exit pipe. IF you can get the lower front off you will see that filter. It stops a lot of stuff that goes through the drain of the unit and hold it there. I've found as much as $2 in change in that filter. The front just screws off BUT you will need something to catch the water that is inside the filter. I took a plastic soda bottle and cut one of the sides partly out, leaving the neck of the bottle intact. I put it under the filter cap and put a pan or bucket under the bottle neck and the water runs into the bucket. I've found screws, rocks, coins and a lot of lint or hair in the filter when I've taken the cover off. Let me know if you have such a filter on yours!

Rondo, if it quits working, I will look into it. Sue checks everything that goes into the washer real good for foreign objects.

I had to have mine installed because I didn't have the heart or nerve to cut a giant hole in the side of the unit. The fellow that did it thought that was funny.
