Kitchen slide floor sticking...
Anyone else having problems retracting/extendng the kitchen slide (our rig is a 3400RL) due to the bottom of the slide floor (the carpeted area) making contact with the linoleum and basically scraping across the linoleum?
I have already lowered the slide by about 1/2 inch. I did this back in October. I am hesitant to lower the slide anymore. I sure would appreciate some suggestions.
Thanks,

Michael,
Ours has always dragged across the floor during travel out or in (I actually grab the top and hold it up per MIMF). However it does not rest on the floor while parked all the way in or all the way out.
Are you saying yours actually sticks to the point it won't move?

Currently, it will close and open. Last year, it would actually stop unless I did as you do - push on the inside top of the slide. Seems to me that this is not the optimal solution, however.

Michael, Forgive my ignorance or lack of knowledge, but shouldn't you be raising the slide? I, personally, wouldn't know where to do this but obviously you do. In checking with my DW, who does the slides (in & out), she says there is no dragging with ours and it is the '06 3400RL also. Good luck!!!!!

Phil, if I recall correctly, lowering the slide will increase the distance between the floor and the underside of the slide. However, if it is too far out of adjustment, when closed, the slide will not seat properly.
We, too, have the '06 3400RL and until last year, it never scraped the floor.

Mike, When you say Lowering, are you referring to the outside wall of the slide? Is there no adjustment for the inner section. As you can see, I am totally confused.

Yes, Phil, the outer wall is where the adjustment bolts are. I'll try to get a couple of pictures up to show you.

Is the Teflon strip that the slide floor rides up on in good shape? We have the Mountaineer and our LR/DR slide clears the inside carpet by a half inch or so.
Here's what I was referring to.

SlickWillie,
The kitchen slide on the 3400 does not have that devise you are showing in the picture. What you are showing there is the ramp for the flush floor system. The kitchen slide is basically the same mechanism as a flush floor but, it is not.
Michael,
You won't hurt a thing if you adjust the verticle adjustment bolts down, say another 1/2 inch at each end. If it doesn't work or you don't like what you see, what's the worst that is going to happen? You'll simply have to go back up on those 2 bolts.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, MIMF. Do you have any idea why this is occurring? Is there something I should be checking?

Hmmm I get a little bit of carpet contact with slide on LR. It leaves a slight mark but I know it will get worse. So if I lower the outside on the rails using the two bolts it raises the inside lip enough to clear carpet?
BTW I read a note in another form regarding slide stabilizers. Seems they can push up too hard on the slide if tightened up and then the rig settles into the ground. Anyone have a comment on this as I was going to get a couple?

Roger - it is my understanding that slide stabilizers (jacks) are not recommended. The common what if questions is: what if the tire pressure goes down, thus lowering the rig on one side? The slide could get messed up.

No stabilizers (jacks) required, that is our understanding. Not going there, nope!
We sit in TX for 3 months, I know others who sit for 4 to 6 months, and none of us use them.
I do not recall seeing ONE set of these in all the campgrounds we visit in TX, and the RGV is full of longtimers, full timers.
Save the $$ for fuel!
