LR Slide Squeak on Open/Closing

When we open or close the LR slide there is squeaking. How do I elimate this problem. Can I use graphic grease on the gears as a solution. I do not want to cause another problem with grease on carpet. Bought our Montana used, have had it 1 year, has always made this noise. Is this normal?

Ours don’t have the squeak as you mentioned but I would suggest using some slide lubricant which can be gotten at Wal-Mart (I think) and spray the part of the frame underneath that slides in and out. Just avoid spraying where you think it may cause a problem getting on the carpet.

open the slide and lube the shaft that runs horizontally and also the rack gears.they do make a spray lube for this, but for now try some WD40 It should have no effect on your carpet,

The white slide "dry" lube does not mark the carpet, does not attract dirt like WD-40 and stopped our squeeks when used. You might get all the slides done at the same time.

All of ours squeeked so bad they could shatter glass! I think it was mostly from being transported in the winter through all the magnesium chloride used on the roads here in the midwest. It turns everything to rust overnight.

I tried every lube I could think of - white lithium, dry slide grease from Camping World, WD-40, graphite - nothing worked. The squeeks finally stopped when I stopped trying to fix it. Not sure what changed.

Those noises are really hard to stop. I use silicone on the rubber and dry lube on the mechanisms...as noted the dry lube will not attract crude like WD40.

We had that problem in the Navy with a lot of our gear, we figured it was caused by Minahoonies. But as soon as we gave up and ignored it they went away and no more squeaks. Apparently Minahoonies don't like to be ignored and they go away. I guess they have left the Navy equipment and moved to the RVs. So I guess the remedy is to just ignore them and if they aren't too noisy eventually they will go away. ... Dave

We use this:

http://www.corrosionx.com/marine.html

Doesn't attract dirt and works very well.
