3400 Basement Door -When Bedroom Slide is out

Some of you 3400 2004,2005 owners have put some type of latch on the basement door to use when the slide is out. Could you please posts some pictures and describe your fix. I really need to do something to fix this annoyance. I don't want to hear from you guys who have the newer model with split doors because I am so jealous. Thanks
Happy trails................

Sue,
About the only fix I have found is to find a large stick and use that to hold that darn door up. =) I think one of the best upgrades Keystone made on the 06 was the new split doors. Hey maybe we can go back to the factory and have them make us split doors for our 04 and 05's. =)

We were told that the dealers can order those doors. Don't know if the opening is the same size or not. Maybe we can line up at the Keystone factory and all get it done!

We use a suction cup with a hook which works fine for quite a while. We have a loop of string which is attached to the lock and we put it around the suction cup hook. You have to keep you eye on it and make sure that it is not drying so every often take it off and wet it. This has worked very well so far, which means the door hasn't dropped onto Colin's head yet!!!

We were told the new split door is not the same size as ours.

I don't think Ed is going to trust a suction cup as he got hit really hard when we were in Oregon. Knocked him to the ground. I'm going to try it and see how it works. I'd really like a permanent solution. We bought a 2x2 and cut it to the right length but it is sitting at home in our parking spot. It was there when we went to Montana and thought sure we would remember this time but you know those senior moments.
Happy trails..............................

Hey Sue,

Don't they have 2x2 available in Montana?

I fixed that problem after the first week-end out 2 years ago. It was a real easy fix, I used a replacement latch, the same as the one used on the main door. I mounted the latch that the T-bar goes into on the very lower right hand corner of the bedroon slide. It must be mounted on the inside of the rubber seal. I used stainless bolts with nylock nuts and cut the bolts off flush so they would not touch the outside wall. Works great.

We use an expandable curtain rod that has the rubber tips on both ends. Insert it just below one of the turn latches. It holds real well unless you accidentaly hit it!!! Those doors are really heavy.

Split doors? Now they think of it! About two weeks after we brought her home I ran the slide out with door up and bang, off came the latch. Didnt replace the latch, keeps me from doing it again. Just have a piece of lath cut the right size. The latch on the bottom of the slide is a good idea. Split doors would be nice tho

Terry, we can beat your record....the guys at the dealership broke our door during our PDI. They put in a quick replacement before we drove off.
