Update: The potential fire defect under my bed
Remember the 120V short I found under my bed?
http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=65547
Well, the trailer went into the shop on the 19th of Aug. It's still there, and the shop says "Waiting for keystone to ship the parts". Keystone hasn't contacted the dealership nor myself since it went in. Just no word. 24 days in the shop and counting. I have paperwork sent to me from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration just waiting to be finalized and sent in as a safety defect. I hope you have all looked under your own beds for this defect (assuming you have 120V. wiring under the bed)

24 days!! Based on your postings, I checked ours even though our outlets are in the walls. A dealer who cared about his customer would have stopped by the local electrical supply retailer and had that reconfigured and fixed in an hour.

I also would put this on the dealer. Call Keystone, I'd bet the dealer hasn't contacted them. It's happened a number of times before.

I visited my trailer at the dealership to retrieve some gear out of it. I took a look at the job and they have removed all the old parts already. I went in and talked to my service adviser. He picked up the phone, called someone and asked "On the Montana with the short under the bunk, anything from Keystone on it yet?" He hung up and said "Nothing yet."
So no, I don't belive it's the dealership delaying me. It's obvious they are waiting on Keystone. I heard the phone inquiry myself. I'm putting this whole mess squarely at the feet of Keystone.

I would have asked the service advisor who sounds like he asked his parts guy at the dealership the question, how often they are doing follow-up with Keystone on status?? I would suggest you also call Keystone direct and compare notes on what Keystone and the dealership are telling you.

I wonder how many hoops Keystone has to jump through with this problem, because the issue was reported to the NHTSA? That may have a bearing on the speed of a repair. No telling how many approvals they have to get from everyone from their own lawyers to the various departments at the NHTSA.

It hasn't been acted on in any way by NHTSA yet. They simply gave me a claim number, and sent the paper work to be filled out. Once the repairs are made, I add the info. to the forms concerning what was wrong and what was done to fix it, documenting the defect and send it back. So, no, Keystone hasn't had to jump through any hoops...Yet.

I would certainly be calling Keystone, myself. I have done it while standing in front of the Service counter at a Camping World and got immediate authorization. Dealers don't really care. They have too many campers in for repairs and aren't in any hurry. Just because a dealer says they submitted for authorization, doesn't mean Keystone received it. Give Steve Holmes at Keystone a call and see if you can't light a fire under somebody.

Yup, thanks. I'll call the dealer Monday morning to see if it showed up, and if not, I'll call Keystone. I am also curious to see if Keystone ever contacted the dealer about this issue. So far, Keystone hadn't bothered checking with either the dealer, or myself. i guess they just aren't interested enough. Some "supervisor" there at Keystone called me, acted concerned, and gave me her direct phone and email back when this erupted, but I have tried to both phone her and email her, with absolutely no response to either. Not my definition of "concerned".
