When mine broke, over a year ago, I drilled two small holes in the bottom frame work. This enabled me to use a plastic tie to secure the window in a closed position.
My thinking was that the replacement handle would probably be another cheap junk aluminum one that would also break. Having the holes there I can just keep a plastic tie in place if I want to, just in case. After waiting for a year for the replacement handle I wasn't disappointed, it was another cheap aluminum one that will probably break quickly.
