There has been a lot of work done on I10, both on the east and west side of Houston. It has been awhile since I have been there so I don't know what the state of completion is. The last time I traveled I10 in Louisiana, It was improved after katrina. It should be OK after New Orleans. I would take the I12 bypass north of New Orleans.

As stated, there has been a lot of work done. Last year, there was a bad stretch somewhere around Orange, TX, but no worse than any other construction zone or bad road.
Unless you are planning on taking in New Orleans, then do use the I-12 bypass through Hammond, LA. The I-10 to Pensacola, FL was not that bad last year.
Happy trails.

I drove it last summer to Panama City Beach, FL. A few rough spots as but over all the road condition was average to good. The problem I encountered was really horrible traffic in a few spots. Can't tell about anything east of Panama City.
Good Travels.

We drove I-10 from Destin on our way to Austin, Texas last month, and I agree with the comments above, especially the benefits of the I-12 bypass around New Orleans. We went down thru New Orleans on I-10 last year, and it was very rough with really bad chucking. Don't know if they've improved it since then.
Good luck.

If you do need to go into New Orleans, go in and out on the West side. The East side is the chucking. I was down to 25 MPH 2 years ago with the Monty. Horrible. West side out was good.
