Richfaa,
I love my truck. I have air ride seats both drivers and passengers. I couldnt let the wife suffer. I will admit it does ride a little rough, but the seats make up for that.
Plenty of power though. Mine has the Cummins L10 with a 10 speed transmission.
I picked it up for $9,000. right here in town at a used truck and equipment dealer.
I did have to change the hitch. I put a Trailersaver air ride hitch on her. Now the trailer rides smooth.

I've never seen above 18 with my truck empty. I tried two different programmers and my mileage was worse. With the 5er I'm pretty consistent between 9.5 - 10.5 MPG. Total weight is 21K+ depending on how I'm loaded.

Padre, we've been here a little under 2 weeks and the first postcard is out there now. Vicki is working on 3 more. Soon as they're out I'll get them out on the website soon as I can.

Hey Bill, sorry I didn't get back to you, but I really don't know if it helped lower the egt didn't have the gauges then, but it did give the engine more breathing and I could really tell the difference on the low end power and fuel mpg..

11 mpg empty, 7 pulling the Mounty. 8.1 gasser sure is thirsty!! As Cheryl and I work together, we commute in the Hyundai, and the Chevy gets relatively few miles (about 7500 in our first full year of owning it).

Just a little secret on how to get more horsepower and speed, just drop the floorboard down and you can push the accelerator down farther. (redneck logic)

We are driving a 2005 2500HD Dodge Cummins 610 Long Bed Quad. We get between 18 and 25 solo on the highway doing 70 to 75 mph. Towing we get between 12 and 14 doing 65 to 70 mph. Around town we get between 18 and 20. Overall I am very pleased with the mileage we are getting.

Mine does respectable considering the wind and hills in ND. I typically get 19 - 20 empty on the highway and 16.8 combined empty, and 10 - 11 pulling. Interestingly enough to me, it got that same milage when it was new.

On two long trips here are my mileages.
Swanton VT to Waves NC and back. 1760 miles towing and 266 miles without. 12.3 MPG
Swanton VT to Goshen IN to Waves NC to Swanton 2646 miles towing and 768 miles without 12.5 MPG
We don't have a heavy foot but maintain 60 mph. About 400 miles of the trip are quite hilly.

I just finished a trip to the Pacific Northwest stsrting in Minnesota. Trailer miles were 5400 and I obtained 7.29 mpg with my 2003 Silverado 2500HD w/ 8.1/Allison and my 2003 3255 RL Montana. My entire rig weighs 19,260 lb. On freeways, I drove 62 mph using cruise. We also went over the Canadian Rockies and drove south on California Hwy 1 from Crescent City to Ft. Bragg

MPG is a figure that does not mean much except to the individual. To many variables. We have the 05 V10 gasser with 100 hours on the motor.Don't drive it much without the camper but noted that we got 13 to 14.5 driving up and down the outer banks (Not towing) and RT#12 is fairly level. Noted as low as 7.5 in West virgina and as good as 10.3 on the Ohio TPK Westbound..also fairly level,Towing about 7,500lbs. The MPG seems to be getting better.Took it out for its Sunday drive last Sunday and it did 14.7 west bound 25 miles and 15.3 East bound same distance.Never expected much in the way of MPG. What I am doing about the high price of fuel is driving the Honda Civic and leaving the truck parked for now...

Getting 19-20 highway empty and 11.5 13.5 towing the monster 3400. With the increase in fuel prices i think we should all slow down a bit. 55 to 60 would save a lot of fuel.

I get 10-12 with my Ford F-250 Power Stroke. The Banks system I had installed in 2002 increased mileage by 2 mpg. As someone else mentioned, a lot depends on your rear axle ratio also. The trucks with 3.73 all seem to get better mileage than those with the 4.10 rear ends.

Brand new Dodge Ram 3500 w/Cummins Turbo Diesel (fewer than 5000 miles):
Averaging 19 - 20 miles per US gallon on highway when not towing @ approx 62 mph (100 kmph)
Averaged approximately 15 miles per US gallon at same speed (with mild cross wind) when hauling our 3400RL on trip from Guelph, ON to Cooperstown, NY via QEW to Buffalo, NYS Thruway to Utica, and back.
As relative neophytes to RVing, the milage we are getting is better than I expected ... but (believe it or not) fairly close to what our Dodge dealer said it would be.

What I have found out about towing for better mpg is maintain 2,000 on the tach or less, this will put you at 60 to 65 mph.

I get between 20-22.5 mpg empty and 10-12 mpg pulling the 3650RK Monty with the '04 Chevy 2500 HD CC D/A SRW when averaging about 65 mph. I am getting about a 10% increase in mileage since I hit about the 30,000 mile plateau. (Does that mean another 10% at 60K mileage????) I'm wondering if the chip and Banks exhaust system will pay for itself on the 04 Duramax? Anyone have any facts, figures and estimated cost on my combo?

Just came back from trip Mesa, Az to Oregon and back to Mesa.
Traveled, without 5th wheel, a little over 3,000 miles. The exact MPG over that trip was 19.8. Truck has 30,000 miles. Driving speed was 70-75.
We have only one vehicle and we are very happy with this milage.
Pulling we average 11-3-11,5 mpg.
City driving averages between 15-16 mpg

On three major trips this is what we got:
2026 miles of which about 1900 miles were towing we averaged 12.3mpg
3414 miles of which about 3000 miles were towing we averaged 12.5mpg
1998 miles of which about 1800 miles were towing we averaged 12.8mpg
Our truck has 60k miles on it and we try and maintain 62mph.

Just got back from our first long trip to Montana and back (about 1500+ miles). Pulling about 12000 lbs, and with 4 adults in the truck, we got 9.8 mpg. Without towing on the highway I'm getting about 18. If our new truck is anything like our previous diesels, I should get 1 to 2 more mpg towing, and 2 to 3 more when not, once it's broke in. We've now got 5500 miles on it, should be broke in in another 15K000.
