changing tire with level up

well i have a week of vacation and if it stops raining i plan on bringing monty to the house to unwinterize and clean the roof and general maintenance before this season starts: my question is can i use my 6 pt level up system and in manual mode use the middle level to lift up the tire to removedand check wheel bearings and brakes, will the system handle it one tire at a time.

Yep,I have done it MANY times for almost 4 years now with no problems, and that is how I do my bearings/Brakes and when I got new tires I raised up one side took two wheels off at a time and took them to the tire shop and repeat as I did not feel like towing the Monty to the tire shop

I just did it for the first time a little over a week ago. It works well, but you have to remember there is a certain degree of side to side "error" that will cause it to not work. You have to lift each side a little bit at a time to stay away for whatever degree of "error" shuts the system down. -Glenn

I've had all four off the ground at same time to change tires. No problem.

I had ours totally off the ground a couple seasons ago doing the brakes. It was like that for almost three days with no problems. The system will handle it, it's just Lippert's lawyers trying to prevent people from doing stupid things. If you are going to crawl under the rig when supported by the hydraulics, from a safety standpoint, it is best to put some heavy jack stands under the frame.

We have done it but on level ground. I don't know about along side the road at a angle side to side.

We did it in Laredo, TX last month. Had a failed wheel bearing and were stopped on the edge of the crowned road. Had to play with the system, first auto leveled it, (disconnected from truck), then placed the system in manual mode and raised the curb side up until the wheels cleared the pavement. Once you auto level, and the rig is level, then you can play with the buttons to raise it to where you need it.

When I replaced my China bombs with G614's I raised all four with the system for couple hours, no problems. On some sites I have seen my tires off the ground when leveling. Like, rohrmann said, if you are have tires off be sure to put jack stands under axles.

We had a Goodyear Marathon China Bomb blowout and we just quickly pulled over on the side of the highway, unhooked, chalked, used the manual level-up controls to raise the side with the blown tire, and replaced the blown tire with the spare and went into town and replaced all the Marathons with G rated tires. Luckily the blowout was on the non-traffic side of the 5'er. :-)
