keeping the heat off the slide if you live in hot weather,OR if you get snow in the winter just close the slides and the snow just slides off and when you go to sell it at some point most people would not do without them(like me) so it makes it a good selling point to a potential buyer..OK the cons: at some point they have to be replaced(not cheap) depends on where you live(My 2004 toppers were still good to go when I sold it 3 years ago but I live in the NW so no super hot sun and they can be noisy in high winds but I just stick a beach ball up there and that stops it,if you do not have them now and want to install them that is a tough choice to make like I said not cheap but myself I would not be without them I just shake my head when my buddy that does not have them is up on the roof after every trip cleaning the junk off before he leaves for home

We have always had them. To me the weak point for potential water leaks is the top seal and toppers protect that area from the elements..

If you are camped in one place for 2 or 3 months have birds ever tried to build nest under them?

The toppers on our 06 3400 were still in good shape in 2012. They keep debris off the slide. They provide some relief from the heat. We have never had a slide leak with the toppers installed.

I love our slide toppers and would do it again. Only problem is in high winds the large one will catch the wind flap some. but I have a 1" nylon strap that I run over the topper to stop that.

Sit in florida for at least 6 months and no birds under there at any time. This year we are here for the whole year, now at the ten month time frame and no birds.... Same when in maine for 6 months. Obviously birds don't favor the areas under the toppers as prime space in any weather. John

Always had them, always will, and they do the job. Easy to clean.

Yes to birds, and they keep MOST debris off the slides, we have had sticks, pine needles, leaves, and wind blown water, on top of slides. Even if you have slide toppers, check the top before retracting. Had a friend that we camped with, didn't check his, and pushed a small stick through his seal. Must have been picked up by a dust devil or something. Just take a quick glance to be sure. And you will accumulate dust, that will settle on the slide top, that needs to be blown or swept out every once and awhile.
