Door Window Repair
The window in my door has slipped down about one inch. How is this fixed?

On ours the window frame is in two pieces. One of these has small plastic pegs top and bottom that support the window and your have obviously broken. I would remove the frame and window. Rotate the frame with pegs so that you have pegs on the bottom, apply a thin bead of silicone and install the window in the frame and let it set up for awhile. You can then reinstall everything. I have found that an extra set of hands helps.

Mike as Charlie stated an extra set of hands is helpful. It is not helpful but a must as far as I'm concerned. When you go to take that last screw out that window will drop like a rock and unless you're really, really fast you won't have a window anymore! We changed our out for a stainglass one and it was a two person job. The silicone around the edges and letting it set a bit is a great idea since the glass will slide if not careful then you're in the same predicament as you started with. I don't know what could cause the glass to drop on yours unless the screws have loosened up to let it go past the pegs. That may be your only problem and if so, just remove the window, recaulk and reinstall. It's that easy!

Did you try turning the door over so it would slip back?
Helpful, aren't I?

Broke the pegs on ours a LONG time ago, we figured it was time to flip the window 180 degrees and to stop slamming the door.

As Charlie wrote, the outside frame has plastic pegs which support the glass. Eventually they will break allowing the glass to slip down. Remove the window frames, flip the outside frame over to use the unbroken pegs from what was the top (now the bottom), and re-assemble. Optionally (or when the other set of pegs break) you can buy replacement frames inexpensively. Buy a pair (inner and outer) as replacements have a different number of screw holes and placement than the originals.

Carol's point about not slamming the door is spot on. That seems to be the easiest way to break those pegs.
Your neighbors will appreciate it, too! Not saying you slam doors, but if the shoe fits...

Thanks for the advice. Kaye and I did the window today. Instead of flipping it over, I simply cut a wooden block to fit in the base of the window so I wouldn't have to worry about pegs breaking again, caulked the window, reassembled it and it worked.
