Ozz' restoration

I installed a new R-410-A 3 ton system in a customers home, the old A-coil was a leaker and the customer wanted a new unit.
I restore the old condensing unit if it is good and sell it cheap to a family that doesn't have the money for a new unit. I have given away a few as well.
This is what I do to them:

Isn't is illegal to save people money? At least that's how contractors around here act!

Thanks folks, but I imagine any of you would do the same if you had the skill-set and the opportunity, many help others through their church or organizations.
On this post, I just thought it would be interesting to see what is involved in cleaning up an A/C unit.

I do sell new units to folks that can afford market rates. Some are good with a fair profit and some people out there will always think you are out to cheat them. Human nature I guess.

Of course, if you're giving them away, the State's not getting it's sales tax money so Sam at least isn't happy with you. He already had it spent.

I learned that lesson early in life. When I was a boy, I had a paper route (probably most folks here did!) and it was the 'rich' people who were the hardest to collect from, and would always question me if I told them they owed for more than one week.

Wendell! Good to see you back! By the way, if anyone is reading this who also read the thread asking when MOC started, Wendell and Margaret (is that right?) were at that first rally, too! Wendell, what was it on the nose of your Montana? Life is Good, or something like that?

Well done, Jim.

One of the things we like to plan for is the "Random Acts of Kindness Day" where we select someone and purchase a couple hundred dollars of food and place it outside their door in a new ice chest full of ice. No one knows from whom it came! We usually do it for for someone in our Winter park and it's very satisfying to see the recipient feel like they won the lottery. We do put a short letter in the package that states: "Next year, pick someone and give them something that you can afford, even if it is a gift card for $5 to a local grocery store. Oh, and you can't let anyone know that you did it."

Great idea Michael and Kat, we sent you a check the year before last for that, I like it.
Good to do for others, you guys have always been up front in that nice gesture.
