Heat addition to living room

In my 3400Rl, there are few options for heat in the living room; hope that the fireplaces dinky heater get you warm and cozy, turn the irritating, noisy, Propane guzzling furnace on and heat the entire Monty, up and down, or...plug in the Wally World portable heater and hope the dog or cat doesn't lay up against it, or tip it over and have a Chevy Chase Christmas tree, 'moment' with the cat.
Soooo, I bought a built in 1500 Watt heater from Graingers.
Pic's attached-wish me luck...............

Dennis, under the vacuum that I'm moving up-I hope.

One would think that the cabinets and doors would be supported well-right? WRONG.
They are supported by a thin sheet of photo paper board; see pictures. BUMMER!
Cabinet-lack of support;

That's too bad...I was wanting to see what you're up too.
I see we're gonna have to bring some wood working tools down and help rebuild that sucker...I guess I fail to understand how things are supported with these rigs. They sure aren't like a stick house.

I was just looking at feeding a new line to my kitchen, but those outside walls are full of foam. Gotta think on that one a bit.
It sure would be nice to be able to trade skills...

Ozzie, I agree. In the 'fishing' wire, you just have to be creative, and think outside the box. No electrical skills, just tilt your head and look at the job different ways, loose a little sleep, and tear stuff apart.......
Lisa and Mark, it makes my head spin a little when I look back. One step at a time.

Talk about being held together with tooth picks and rubber bands. I can't believe the structure in some of the pictures. One thing for sure when you are done it will be stronger than it was.

I believe while I had it off I would run a 2x4 up there to support all the cabinet weight. Hard to believe that particle board is all that supports the cabinet. I am going to have to pull mine out and look over it again. Already had to make better supports in closets with 1x4's and 2x4's to hold rods, shelving etc. Also supported few cabinets shelfs better already.

Jim, your furnace is noisy? Ours is pretty quiet and is effective. We still use electric heaters to reduce propane usage, though, but furnace noise is not a problem in ours. Something wrong with yours?

Jim, those cabinet support pictures are disturbing. Where are they taken? Is that the pantry or the peninsula?

Steve, the noise is not severe, but comparing it to a nice quiet electric heater, it is noisy. You get pre-ignition fan, then propane injection and fan, it's just not as quiet, you know how anal I am.
Yes, it is bottom-right from the vacuum, the left side is a solid particle board. Pretty sad, eh?

Worked on it today, made sawdust, put bracing and support under the cabinets, way down about 4' there is a leg, just not on my end.
I miss working in my shop, the picnic table isn't the same.
I have a Co2 bottle and regulator, it works super with my air nail and brad gun.
A rough fit in the pictures, I'll stain and finish the blank tomorrow.
Hey Rich, I'll have the only Montana with a centered Vacuum cleaner....remember we were griping about the 3400RL being off center?
I will add my outlet on the left face of the cabinet to that side of the vacuum. I may get that sticky paper and cover the wood if my stain and finish doesn't look good or match.
Get-er-done!!!!!!!

OZZ,

I have built several new cabinets in our unit and they match pretty well. I have not done any where it is right up against the paper covered board. I was able to salvage several pieces of the paper covered board from the dinette booth I removed to use in future projects that may be up against the exiting paper covered board.

Anyway, I hope this matches for you as I can see myself doing something similar in the future. I enjoy reading your posts!! I like to tinker abit myself.

ozz, I would like to follow you around some and watch you in action. I have a picture in my mind of you walking around your unit looking for things to change and install. I hope in the future I have the opportunity to meet you and see your unit. I have changed a few thing on my unit but I trade and start all over.
I like looking at your web-page and using the ideas that will make my unit more personal. Keep up the good work.

Thanks, RVFirefighter.
I see things and make a mental note, I have a 'To do list' many minor things, some major. I just want things to be as good as I can get them, and I do enjoy working on it. Doesn't pay well, OK anything, but that's Ok too. The cold ones get that sawdust out of our throats...
Fulltime dreamer, good to hear about the cabinets, I am a little concerned about the new up next to the paper board, but it's a corner-end area, so it may look OK.
Snfexpress, Michael, told me that a Keystone dealer keeps rolls of the contact paper in stock, along with filler and putty for repairs, so I have that option. Yes, and tinkering keeps us out of trouble!
