Turn Signal Lights
Well, my project today was to install turn signal lights on the side of my 5er. My rig is a 3575RL, which means that the main slide includes the cowling over the street side tires. I had to install a disconnect here or I would have had to worry about 40" of wiring getting tangled up. I called Keystone and they faxed me a wiring schematic of the wiring snake. The color coding was actually correct. I also only had to loosen the underbelly to run the curb side turn signal light wire.

Mike,
Great job on the install. I think the additonal turn signal lights are a great safety precaution. It let's people to your side know your intentions for turns and lane changes. I need to look at doing this modification to ours.

Mike - Nice Job! (I'll bet you had to set down the remote for this job )
If you want the lights to come on only with turn signals and not brakes as well - you can install a 2 To 3 Way Taillight Converter #18158 from http://www.877hitchit.com/
Just insert this converter between where you tapped for the turn/brake signals going to the back and your new turn signal circuits. The remaining "stop" circuit wire doesn't need to be connected to anything. The converter will sense when power is applied to both left and right and leave your turns signals off.
Montana Sky - On my Cambridge post I noticed midship turn signals were standard equipment - so this is nothing new to Keystone.

Brad,
You are correct, it is nothing new to Keystone. I just dont understand why they do not put them on the Montana?? I have mentioned this option to every rep and customer service person I can talk to and it still has not happened. Maybe they will take more notice if they see I am not the only one who wants this option, especially when other members are adding this to their coach.

Looks Great Mike,
Does this work as a marker light as well or just the turn signal ?

While I chose a light that is almost identical in looks to the marker lights, I only hooked it up as a turn signal. I must admit, I have a friend that is an electrician who thought of the disconnect because of having to mount on the slide. Much better than what I was thinking of.
As bsmeaton points out, it goes on with the brakes also because the plug has both brake and signal lights on the same line. No real need for that because they could have use the yellow wire for the barks since they did not consider it important to put a backup light on these rigs. That is an upcoming project to put a backup light on the trailer and a docking light on the TV. Anybody have and pics or ideas on how the best way to do this is?
