Hook UP Monty With Slides Out

At a recent campground, I watched a fellow Monty owner hook up the new Monty to his truck with the slide out--OUT. I have never done this and don't know why someone would -- except in some special case. Are the NEW Montys designed for this type of treatment? or I am I missing something??
