Lippert Pin Box vs MorRyde Pin Box

We just purchased a 2021 3120RL from a private owner. This 5er has a Lippert Trailair pin box. My 2011 3000RK has a MorRyde pin box. The pin on the new one is 5 inches closer to the front compartment of the coach and the new trailer overhangs the pin 7 inches more than the old trailer. All of these differences is a result of the new Lippert pin box being 5 inches shorter than the older MorRyde box. I haven't done any testing with the new trailer to check clearances between the cab and trailer.
Any idea why they shortened the pin box, and is the Lippert box superior to the MorRyde?

Thanks again

The only advantage I can see having a shorter pin box is there is less leverage torquing the frame. The longer pin box does give you a little more room between the trailer and the back of the truck.

During the last two national in person rallies I was the vendor coordinator and was amazed by the number of folks who were junking a brand new or almost new Lippert to go back to a Morryde. No one talked about the length, but they all complained about the ride. I have no experience myself, having only had Morryde, but apparently many folks believed that.

I have had the factory installed pin box for about a year now, and I notice on our last trip that there was more chucking, and a bit more sway to the unit than I have noticed in the past. I have good bed clearance. I am just looking for a smother ride, if possible. We have a 3931FB and was wondering if anyone had suggestions from their experience.
