Hello from Waco, Texas

Howdy from Waco, Texas! My wife and I tested out RVing about 4 years ago and bought a travel trailer. We were surprised at how much we enjoy it so we plan buy a motor home in 5 to 7 years (when we retire) and spend time in the hot months out of the heat. Until then we are about to upgrade to a Montana 5th wheel and use it as much as we can while still working!

We really like the Montana 3791RD. Anyone have good / bad experience with the the 3791RD or any advice at all on the unit?

Thanks!

Can't help you on that unit, but we're full timing in our second Montana and love it. We thought about a Class A, but didn't want to give up the living space and have to have our home in the shop if we had a drive train issue.

Welcome to the forum. With the 3791 it will just take a bit longer before you run out of outside storage

Welcome from one new member to another

We also just got a 3971RD. Very excited! Our first trip will be this weekend, then 3 weeks hunting in West Virginia next month.
Had a 35' TT before this, what an upgrade! Love the outside storage.

Welcome to the forum! Also from Waco. Hate the Silos and the traffic it brings.

Hey GreenBear: welcome to the Montana world. This is off topic, but I’ll be passing through Wako the first of next month. I’ve heard there is a lot of construction on 35. Coming from the north, will I have any problem hitting the 77 roundabout? Thanks in advance.

Waco I35

GreenBear may have better info - but last time I was thru there (September 2019) the construction on I 35 was from the north loop 340 thru town past Valley Mills Drive - Valley Mills exit is the one where the hwy 77 circle is just east of I35. It was bad. Of course it was a Friday afternoon at 4:00 but I resolved to take the east loop 340 around that stuff on our return trip to miss the congestion.

Montana 3791RD

We have the same model, a 2019. Just remember and be aware that you don't have any 12volt receptacles. We had a propane generator put in so we can run the a/c if needed. It also helps charge the batteries for the fridge inverter. If we don't run the genset , we can't do anything but use the lights. We are always plugged in everywhere we go.

Have fun. We are happy with ours

Welcome from Nebraska. The storage space in the 3791RD is incredible. I just don't understand why with that kind of storage they don't equip it with heavier axles/tires and ultimately a heavier payload. To me it's an overweight situation waiting to happen. Why tempt people with that much storage when the unit can't haul it. The 3121 has a higher payload than the 3791 has. One dealer reviewer on U-Tube said he could envision opposing tool boxes on that rear storage roll out bed. You know how much weight that would add? Just my 2 cents.

Good luck with the 5th wheel. We too upgraded from a TT to a 5th wheel 10 years ago. We also didn't like having all of our eggs in one basket in a motor home. And we hear all of the time that we have more space in our 5th wheel than people have in their motor homes. And you can't remove your propane tanks in the motor home like you can in the 5th wheel to re-fill them. But then some don't like pulling so to each his own.

I've wondered the same thing about the storage. The slide out tray says max 800 lbs. but with the size of it, it just seems to beg to fill it up. So huge. Thanks for the welcome and we'll see you out there/
