Brake question?????

Ok along with a split galley tank this trip, my P3 brake controller turns red and says I got an "Overload", which means I guess I got a short somewhere. I still got to trace it out and figure out if it is the controller, the wiring or the trailer brakes. Odds are it is likely gonna end up being the magnets on the trailer brakes. If I trace it back to them I am gonna just buy new brake assmeblies since they are around $50-$60. My question is,,,I have 6000 lb axles but I see that the brake assemblies for 7000 lb axles are the same size. Are they actually the same assembly or is the actuator, magnets, springs, etc heavier then the 6000 lb ones. And if they are would it be better to buy the heavier assemblies or am I thinking wrong here. And have people who went to the self adjusting brakes had good luck with them. .......Thanks
