shower skylight

We just picked up our 3150 rl amd I see a problem, I am not an early riser when on vacation and the shower skylight is going to let a whole bunch of light into my bedroom well before I want to see it, anybody know of, or have any creative, nice looking solutions to block the light?? thanks for all the ideas I am sure Ill be getting

I cut a piece of Plexiglas (or like material) painted one side silver and holed it up in the hole with mirror pins that allow us to remove when Ann's plants need sunlight. She also likes late morning rising.

we just bought a skylight shade that we ordered thru Amazon. I see that Camping World carries the same thing called Lights Out Vent Shade. It opens and closes just like a regular shade. Haven't installed it yet as we are waiting for our 5er to get out of the shop (minor repairs). Hoping that it will cut out alot of the heat from the direct rays of the sun. Curious as to if anyone else has tried using one of these.

I found an old piece of standard 1/2" insulation, cut it to size and it squeezes in/out depending if we need it. It keeps the cold out in the winter, the sun/heat out in the summer, and the side on the inside is blue, so at night it looks like a dim blue night light. Cost: $ 0.

Kevin-- go to the Search engine at the top of the page and key in "skylight shade". Grooving grandpa had a thread on the very subject on March 24th. It was four pages long and there are numerous ideas as to taking care of this problem you have mentioned. You'll even see several pictures and I think there is one of the Skylight Shade mentioned by countrylady.

On our 3400 i removed the inside cover of sky light about six screws and covered it with a dark cloth and screwed it back. you can remove the inside with out any problem and replace the cloth if it fades.

I seen a shower stall one time on a SOB that didn't have a skylight.

Don't remember the brand.

I wonder if one could delete this on a order out?

Carefree of Colorado makes a shade specifically for shower sky lights. is rectangular rather than square. It is the same as the shade for square sky lights but bigger. I saw them at the CW in Rochester NY but haven't seen then in the other CWs I have visited or in their catalog. They are available somewhere, you night check the Carefree of Colorado website... Dave

I used a piece of Quilted fabric, and use Velcro to attach it when I want no light.

We used a piece of reflective bubble wrap. Cut it to size and Velcro to shower skylight frame. Works great for blocking sunlight and heat.

I bought a aluninum insulated door window cover, that is held on by velcro. Goes up and down easy.

We purchased a shade (mentioned a number on times in MOC forums) made specifically for the shower skylight...paid about $65. We are completely happy with it...blocks the early morning light and late night flood lights used at some campgrounds. We particularly like that it only takes seconds to let the light in, or keep it out. Recommend this product.
