Mice

I live in a rural area and every time I park my 2018 Montana 3120rl between trips I get mice inside my trailer.
I have screened up as many of the holes in the frame as I could. I have also put screens on the tires to try to keep the little s—ts from climbing up to the frame area.
Any ideas by anyone to help me to figure out how to stop them?
I set poison inside the camper but I have had the smell of a decaying rodent Basta-eds that died inside.
Tired of this problem for sure

Ideas please

I use Great Stuff foam insulation that is rodent proof and foam around everything coming into the rig (water pipes, drains, gas lines and electric). I have done this in the last 3 and have not had a mouse.

I get some of these traps, fill them with poison, and put them by the tires. That way, as the mouse tries to get onto the tire, he's lured into the traps by the poison. These work really well at keeping them out of the rig...

My theory is that if you park on any area where there is grass or vegetation under the rig, the mice will be more likely to seek shelter in the rig. To combat this, I use round up 3-4 times a year all around and under the RV to keep it vegetation-free. The mice are less likely to scurry out into barren areas where hawks or owls can get them. They are more likely to hang around the unit if there is vegetation under the rig. I store mine on my farm on an elevated gravel pad under a shed- so far, no sign of mice in the rig. Lots of hawks around!

I would have to say that theory does not hold true for me. Our unit is parked in a poke barn. It's not mouse tight by any means, so the mice can get under the doors, and do get in there. They come in when it gets cold, to escape the weather. The rest of the year, they are not in the building, for the most part....

I keep bait boxes from Tractor Supply out. They are called Tomcat. They stay out all the time. Keep the mice under control and I don’t have any trouble with them. I’ve never had one die in my camper. I know they can but I haven’t had it happen. For most of the winter my camper is near worse case. We use the barn lot that is 3 feet from my camper to fatten cattle.

Our shed have a lot of mice in it, and knock on wood, never had one inside the RV. We use dryer sheets everywhere there is a crack on the exterior, caulked every hole possible with the black Great Stuff foam, and never used bait/ poison because we always believe “bait” attracts rodents. Just my two cents and track record for 25 years. Good luck.

The problem with bait boxes is that the mice eat the poison and do and die in the walls or other unaccessible places. I use snap traps with peanut butter on them and Fresh Cab which is an herbal deterent and the mice do not like the smell of it. I place the packets in the basement and storage areas and in the propane wells. I also place them under the sinks and any cabinets I can get to the bottom or next to the floor. If you have power to the unit you can also use the electronic units that you plug into the recepticals. They have worked for me while sitting between uses.

Try this PVC Pipe Bait Station. I made about six of these for where I part my RV.Within 2 weeks all rats and mice were gone and stayed gone for quite a while. I leave my bait stations out with just one bait in each station and check them weekly. My RV is now rat and mouse free. See video here:

Another vote for Fresh Cab. Rondo put me onto this product a couple of years ago and haven't had an issue since.

My fifth wheel is in a rural area as well.I have used a product called Mouse Free .I spray it on the underbelly once a season and have never had a mouse inside unit.If you purchase 2 jugs they include a air sprayer.I used to battle mice every season until I found this.I also use Great Stuff to block any entry.

I put the ultrasound noise makers in my camper. One on top of the silverware. Just to show me they didn’t work guess what the mice did in my silverware, good guess.

I had a packet of Fresh Cab under our Island with a snap trap right next to it, caught several mice in the trap, guess our mice like the smell of Fresh Cab.
