Overnight Camping - opening slides while hitched?
Hello all!
What are the thoughts around doing this? While still hooked to the truck. I’ve heard it’s a big no no. We’ll be staying I. The Home Depot parking lot. I’m thinking we may just open the bed room slide and dining slide. Leaving the 2 front living room slides and refrigerator slide closed.
Thanks!

Been there, done that, in a CG on a level site. I put the front jacks down till the pin box just starts to lift off the hitch head, then put down the rear jacks to get reasonably level, then open the slides.

Ditto Phillyg's response. Been doing that for well over 10 years with no issues.

We've been travelling to Mexico and the SW USA from north of Toronto,Ontario (6 days on the road) and typically stop for each night at Walmart for about ten years now and we put out all slides almost every time. No slide issues at all. Just stay close to level for the sake of the slides and the fridge.

We also have done it for over 12 years with no issues.

Us, too. Manual level, as close as possible, then open the slides.

Agreed. I just did this a couple weeks ago. Just take the pin weight off the truck and put the legs down.

I’ve been opening my slides for as long as I have owned a camper with slides. I don’t put the jacks down or worry about leveling.
