bedroom slide for 2021 high country 5th wheel 295RL

When putting out my bedroom slide when it gets most of the way out it starts making loud popping or banging sounds like something is going to break. But after getting past that spot it goes out ok and quits making that noise. I have lubricated the plastic rolls on the bottom. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Sound like it might be your gear box may be going out.

That would be my guess as well. However, you might focus on where the sound is coming from as you move the slide. It's possible that what you are hearing is just the exterior rubber seal/wiper. It can be a little noisy when it's reversing direction based on slide movement.

Edit: We did have a gear box go out on ours on our kitchen slide. But ours just locked up and wouldn't move past a certain point due to a broken gear tooth. The bedroom gear box is a little more challenging to replace since the only access is to remove the top valance. At least that's the case in ours.

The Schwintek slide for my bedroom slide makes a noise emanating from the vertical drive rod...not exactly "bong bong bong", but it is not a "gear crunching" noise. The videos mention "lubricate when your slide is making a lot of noise" but I am not sure what the noise is. It has been over a month since I have extended my slides. I bought some CRC lube on Amazon. I will try lubing the intended points when I get it out again.

I just went through this. Had the slide rebuilt. There is a repair bulletin. Here is the thread.
https://www.montanaowners.com/forums...0&d=1657848027

That's exactly what mine did before the slide got out of sync and bound up destroying the bed frame. Service manager said the slide is too big for the Schwintek. New upgraded components installed.

If its a cable driven slide, my bet is a frayed cable. The binding is the frayed part of the cable going through the pulleys then freeing up after passing through. If this is the case, change the cable now! Do not wait until it binds up completely and gets stuck in the pulleys.

It's the same trailer I have except 1 year older. Definitely a Schwintek. The large slides can be cable or rack and pinon.

My service manager told me that they had a Schwintek bedroom slide literally extend so far that it fell out onto the driveway. Damaged slide frame.

OP's is a 2021. I believe the slide mechanisms didn't change for the HC's until the 2022 production. He's likely got cable slides. But it's easy to check and he can inform us.

Good to know. Have you been able to pinpoint the location of the noise you're hearing?

Didn't realize they used cables on the bedroom slide.

Ha, no problem. They actually have cables on ALL slides in the High Country prior to 2022. They're...OK, but I was pleased to see the announcement of an upgrade to the slide mechanisms in 2022.

Check the cable tension. You should not be able to squeeze any pair of cables more then about an inch between thumb and fingers. That slide ,may be cocking in the frame if they are too tight or too loose. BAL Accuslde have a couple You Tube videos plus the instructions on lin.

Be happy you don't have Schwintech(sp?)

I'm not so sure that the Schwintek was a great move. At least my experience has been a nightmare.

Fair enough. I've never had them but based on all I've read about them I would be leery of them as well. You kind of have to take what comes on the rig you choose to buy. The good old rack and pinion systems take up more room under the bed but I think that would still be my preference.

Popping sound

I have a 2017 310RE and my popping sound was from the bolts holding the gearbox on the wall was coming loose, pulling them out of the wall. I used bigger lag bolts. So far so good

We have 2 of the 5 slides on our 2022 not closing evenly. Not sure if it's the new track system or gear motor alignment. Didn't have problems when we had cables

We have a Montana 3791RD. Have issues with the bedroom slide and front room slides.

Ray - I looked at some photos of your model and the slides marked “S” are Schwintek slides. “Closing unevenly” sounds like they need to be re-synced. Do the slides come in all the way and snug up to the trailer wall? If you can run them out - keep pressing the “extend” button for 3-4 seconds after movement stops…then run it in and keep pressing the “IN” button for 3-4 seconds after movement stops. Do several cycles of this until the uneven issue goes away. In the future - everytime you use them (in and out) keep pressing the button for 3-4 seconds to keep them in sync. If the problem persists then your dealer will need to remove and reset both motors. There are many threads here discussing various issues and fixes. Also there are lots of YouTube videos for Schwintek slide problems and sync procedure + how to maintain and lube them.
