Looking to buy a 2012 Montana 3582.

We are considering buying a 2012 3582.
It does not have the 4 season decal by the entry door.
is there a significant difference in the models with and without the work, and would it make a difference if you were considering buying it?
We live in Phoenix, and are looking to go to cooler weather, so we are familiar with extreme temp swings.

I also own a 2012 3582. I discovered 2012 Montana's did not put that sticker on all of their units. The dealer did not know why either. But, most Montana's had an option called the "Moving to Montana Package" that included an Arctic Insulation Package which is the same thing. They advertised in their brochure that year about being tested to 0 degrees and some other fancy language. Bottom line, no big deal in my opinion.

If you purchase the rig, don't forget to carefully inspect your tires!!!!!

Also, I have a 2012 Chevy Diesel, crew cab, 4x4 short bed truck. How do I figure if the truck can handle that rig?
My truck weighs 7000.
The GVWR weight is 10,000, and combined wt is anywhere from 22,000 to 25300. depending on where I look.
IF the trailer gross id 15000, is that too much pin wt?
I'm not sure how to figure and get that info.

Our 2012 3585SA does not have a decal like that. I'm pretty sure that it is just "eye candy" and Montanas are all built to the same standards.

Do you all have any likes or dislikes about the 3582.

Is there anything special that we should we look for in the inspection?

We really like the floor plan, and are hoping that this works out.

I went to a Montana dealer with the vin, they looked into Keystone's data base, and this trailer does have the Arctic package.

According to the 2012 flyer I have the gross weight of the 3582RL is 15785. Our 3400 pin weight is around 3000 lbs fully loaded which you might be close to when fully loaded. Is your truck a 3/4 ton or one ton?

Went to dealer to help figure numbers
Max Trailer weight is 15800. Pin is 15 to 25% of weight, according to owners manual. Most folks quote 20%.
So it appears we are within limits, but close to max.

How does your truck "feel" when towing?

On my 07, they called it a "mandatory option." All models had it.

Look at the "Tire and Loading Information" sticker on the driver's door post. It will give you the actual cargo capacity to the nearest one pound. That number should include everything in the truck, pin weight, cargo, people, 5th wheel hitch weight, etc. Your truck will be way over weight. You'll read posts of those using 3/4 ton trucks and their "pulls fine never had a problem" comments...still way over weight.

You are way over weight. The number you quoted 15800Lbs is empty but even so at 20% your pin is 3160lbs. Now add you and the wife, the dog, fuel, hitch and say 350lbs of clothing and items in the basement and you are way over weight. I have the same rig only mine is a 2015 pull it with a F350 and I am here to tell you you are way over weight. Best thing you can do is scale it. If you can't take it to a scal call out a mobile scale and weight it to be sure.

I think the 15,875 is the gross weight of the trailer FULLY loaded and you should not go over this weight. You would probably have to put everything including the kitchen sink to max this out unless you are full timing. Sounds like you need at least a newer 350 or 3500 and maybe a dually.

Calculating the pin weight was a real eye opener.
The trailer weight appears to be within limits, with 12505 being the shipping wt, and 15785 being the GVWR. The truck max trailer wt is 15800, and combined wt is 24500.
But GVWr for truck is 10000, and wt of truck with Fuel, hitch, wife, dog, and me is just shy of 8000.
Which leaves 2000 for pin weight.
So it looks like I'm about aprox 1000 over on pin wt.
With that being said, it appears that any Montana trailer will be close or over the pin wt for for any Chevy 3/4 ton.

Am I wrong with my math?
Do most folks just say it's close and "feels" ok?
I'll be reading more about tow vehicles, but thanks for making me get into the numbers.

I actually thought about moving wt to the back of the trailer when moving, but don't know how practical that would be. Would lighten the pin wt, but might also cause handling problems.
Also the wife probably would not like that, and the divorce would be more expensive than buying a dually!
