(specific) gen prep question

Those that have gen prep, please tell me what difference (if any) is done to the box’s walls (where the generator sits). I realize the ‘perforated’ bottom of the box comes out, but is there anything additional done to the walls/roof of the box, itself?
Our Montana HC did not come w/gen prep; however, I am in the process of installing my Onan 5500. I have the auto. transfer switch installed, and I’m about ready to sit-in the generator.
I’ve done a search and have read where others lined the box’s walls with a foil-faced rubber mat-type material, with intentions of deadening noise — I don’t feel as though I need to line the box for the sake of noise reduction (but I’m always open to suggestion, as now would def. be the time to do a thing like that).
Finally, with the entire front cargo box/bay being one (open all the way across the front of the trailer), is there any type of partition/wall that’s included w/gen prep (ie: is there some sort of wall between the generator and the 5’er’s battery), or does that typically remain open, all the way across?
TIA

I wouldn't go that far and call it fire rated. I'm sure there's no listing for it especially since the baggage door is combustible.

It is in fact ...only for the wall leading back to and above for the inhabitant areas.

You can buy the shroud from a local dealer. I think it was about $150. That way you don’t pay the high freight cost.

The local Keystone dealer doesn’t stock the sheetmetal housing—when they need such a thing, I was told they sub the job to a local HVAC company..
Dealer’s svc dept did say a lot of people install an Onan into front compartment w/out doing any type of sheetmetal prep.. (?)
FWIW, we do typically leave the compartment’s door open while running our generator.

If you’re referring to the Onan’s shroud/housing, I own a 5500w Emerald Advantage (HGJAC); and to my knowledge, it’s about the only (modern) Onan that will not accommodate a housing..for some reason, the unit’s air flow won’t allow it

I’m not sure what to think, now..

Those are some great pics, guys—and those pics are, indeed, helping me—again, thank you

a little more info about my generator:
It’s a 5.5kW, HGJAC—the gen has a total of 44 hours of run time on it, and that’s a big reason that I am switching it to our recently acquired trailer (Montana HC), rather than let it go w/our previous 5’er—this gen is just now getting wore-in, properly
Our previous 5’er was not a Montana trailer, and the Onan’s muffler (which isn’t OEM) hung below the generators box a little bit. I didn’t fab. This setup, but since it worked well, I left it alone. The muffler being hung/mounted a little lower than the generator’s base allowed heat to dissipate more quickly, and not transfer as much heat to the sheet metal enclosure/cargo box.
....(but) after watching the Montana HC’s auto-level system do its’ thing, I’m afraid I can’t allow the muffler to be mounted any lower down than the generator’s base. The muffler being lower than the gen’s base was never a problem w/ previous trailers, but it seems like it is going to be a real problem with this (Montana HC) trailer, as Ground Control bottoms out each time it cycles (before raising to un-hitch height) which would smash the gen’s muffler (if it were hanging down below the gen’s base, as before).
So, I have a good muffler, but it’s not OEM. Just a few days ago I searched online and located the muffler that is supposed to go with this generator (Onan part number 155-3470 or 155-3499–see pic, below)
The cost of the muffler is going to be nearly $1500, which I absolutely refuse to do.

Any ideas on this situation?
Should I try taking my current muffler to a muffler shop, and asking them to modify it, where it mount level w/the bottom of the gen’s base?

We have a Factory installed Onan 5500, and the enclosure is just a thin sheet metal (my guess Tin) around the generator. Wouldn't call it Fire rated or anything, maybe just enough to keep anything from touching the Generator it's self.

jetskier, thanks for the pic & the input
PNW Fireguy & mhs4471, the input from each of you is appreciated

I’m a handy guy, but sheetmetal work is something I’ve not done. I don’t think it would be too difficult, especially if I had a (small) brake, so I could bend/cut the metal.
I bet that Keystone’s gen prep sheetmetal enclosure is prohibitive in cost. Shipping, alone, would be exorbitant. I’ll call just the same, as they might fab one for me.

How is the sheetmetal attached to the [inside of the] box? Is it simply glued (ie: Liquid Nail), or is it affixed so that there is a small dead air space between sheetmetal & the box?

How would you go about lining the box? Do you think lining the box w/a foil-faced product would suffice? I’ll make dang sure no part of the genny is touching/too close to a wall. Is there any material @ Lowe’s/Home Depot that would suffice? Please advise.
TIA guys.

Here's more pics. I installed my old 5500LP with 150 hours on it. Yanked it out of my previous trailer. No need to spend $4-5k on a new one.

Most Onan draw the combustion and cooling air from the bottom of the units. There's not need to open the baggage door. It does get warm in there with it closed.

I would put several 2x12 boards under the front levelers to provide more clearance. You can always not auto level. I much prefer to manual level mine and that would give you added assurance.

Why not mount the muffler in the 10" cavity below the generator platform??

Here's a pic of how I routed the pipe on mine. I routed it between the heater and water heater exhausts. This keeps it out of the way of accessing the baggage door and I can also mount the Genturi up pipe out of the way.
