Not the surprise I wanted..

I would like some insight, my wife and I are return from a two week trip. When I opened the living room slide on the entry door side of our 310 RET. I noticed a substantial crack at the top right of the slide. This was not there when we left, I know because I washed the camper yesterday and scrubbed the roof.

I have had something like this happen before on a truck camper I had from hitting a frost heave which cracked the frame on the bottom of the slide. What are y'alls thoughts and guidance over this?

Is this near the rear of the coach?

This is located to the left of the door entry, in the middle of the camper, right next to the left awning mount arm

By looking at it, it could be the slide is out of alignment and putting excess pressure in that area. Does the slide touch that area first when being brought in?

Chase, I have a similar crack on the bottom of my living room slide. According to the tech it is a pressure crack and could indicate that the frame or a weld is broken behind that section of wall. I have it being repaired under warranty at our dealer now. They are still waiting on parts for other repairs so I have the rig while we are awaiting parts. I'd have it looked at as soon as possible. Our crack started under the lip where the slide closes and wasn't visible with the slide closed. Now it has run further and is about 6 inches long. If it continues to expand, it could allow water intrusion into the wall.

Crack

I appreciate the reply from both of you and guidance. Thanks for sharing the photo, I am a little concerned with structural damage. I know these things happen, and you can only expect to have some scares from the road. Just was a little disappointed, seeing I have traveled almost 4K miles in the last 8 months in the camper. Then a stretch of 300 miles this happens.

Could be possible the damage happened anytime and just became apparent in the last 300 miles. The cracking you are now seeing could be the symptom and the structural damage may be the cause. Either way good luck with the diagnosis and the fix and keep us posted on your progress.

Cracked weld

Well, just confirmed the weld is cracked. Hairline crack, if your looking at the picture it's at the bottom to the middle.

Hitch

That did cross my mind, but highly unlikely being that it's in the middle of the camper directly over the the first axle and suspension. If it was on the front, then that would be more suspicious.

Wow, that's terrible sorry to hear that news. I hope you can get it corrected and minimized the damage to both your rig and your wallet.
However, by you sharing, now I'm on the prowl and checking those areas after each move. Thanks again and best of luck.

We took our camper on a 8000 mile adventure. On our way home I noticed a crack on the corner of the bedroom slide-out. I was told it is due to a bad weld or the frame flex issue. In either case I'm glad it's covered by warranty. I know it is not an Anderson hitch issue since we only use a high quality 5th wheel hitch.

Structural stress crack......my 2020 3780RL trailer is currently at the dealer for a repair like this on the cab below the slide-out. It is covered by the 3-year structural warranty. Keystone sent parts (?) to the dealer for the repair. Suggest contacting your dealer and schedule the repair before it gets worst OR is out of the Keystone warranty unless you have an extended warranty.

There is a reason why the high country version of the Montana is cheaper. Just saying

I'm sure those folks will chime in shortly. There are many reports of similar issues along with Stud breakage frame cracks in the front overhang area.
Try searching for frame Flex

I understand now, you were just pointing that out, for the mass. Not about this thread, I don't have a High Country nor does anyone else that posted on this thread. That's why I asked, I was confused. The High country has different suspensions, tanks, and slide-out mechanisms. Not so much on the aluminum structure side. The front-end frame flex is common for both Montana and high country. That is due to the actual distance of the slide to the bottom of the actual joint. The newer campers unlike mine have a greater distance to the main beam. The frame and aluminum structures of the two campers are the same. I am sure if they could, they would have changed that, but I do not believe this would have been cost-effective for them. Please let me know if I am off, but that's what I understood about the High Country.
