Shower drain blocked

We have a 2017 3720RLThe last day of a 28 day trip, while the washing machine was running, the shower began filling with water from the drain and then it would not drain when we enptied the gray tank. We took it for service and was told because of the design, the grey tank drain and washing machine drain both have to be open at the same time when using the washing machine.

Now were dry camping and first shower, the drain is blocked again. Has this happened to anyone else? How do we fix this blocked drain?

Haven't found one of these in our 2017 yet, but the 2010 had one of these in the basement ceiling for the bathroom drain. Backing it up will cause the bladder to fold wrong and you have to take it apart and gently smooth the bladder back in place. If you do have one, do not run a snake down into it.

My older Monte has the traditional P traps and are no problem under the same scenario. Sometimes a better mousetrap is not as good as the old ones.

In the shower drain is a device that is a rubber tube with the bottom end flattened. This is enclosed in a plastic tube that hand screws onto the drain fitting in the shower. You can gently open it up with a wooden chopstick. My used to stick shut, then would remain open and allow tank odor into rv. I removed the piece od cap and installed a regular s hedule 40 pvc ptrap that I got at lowes. Problem solved for good.

Do a "Search" on "hepvo" which will bring up a number of postings about this water-less "P" trap. One member had exactly the same problem as you (washer backed up drain, then shower won't drain). Read post #3 here

The valve is located behind the back wall of the storage compartment on the passenger side. Remove the wall, remove the Hepvo valvle, straighten out the bladder, and re-install it.

On our rig, the Hepvo device is attached directly below the shower drain, and I occasionally use a small bottle brush to clean that rubber tube. This keeps it clean so it closes properly. There is also one below the one bath sink, and that one has to come out to clean. Usually these need to be cleaned several times a year, as we full time in our rig.

Good advice Carl. Thanks

is this the way they do shower drains now? I'm not having issues but if I do, ill know what to look for.
Ill have to look in my storage area and see what I have. I think I still have a p trap in the bathroom under the sink.

Once I had issues on the old rig we took out the factory things with the holes in them and put those mesh screens in the drains in the bath and the sink that you can get from Amazon or any RV store. We have to clean them almost daily, but we've never had another problem with the valve in six years of full timing.
