Water Filtration

We are getting ready to hit the road full-time and I am looking into water filtration. My idea right now is to get a 2 or 3 canister system to filter the water before the tank. I am figuring this will not only give us better water but will help keep the tank and pluming in better shape between cleanings. Then I am planning on putting another under-counter filter for drinking/cooking water with its own dispenser on the sink.

I have 2 young children so a little overkill in this area is perfectly fine with me. We are from AZ so we are used to having to filter our water. I know water quality is better in other areas around the country but I want to be prepared.

Does anyone have any thoughts/feelings/advice on my plan? As always, I very much appreciate all information, comments and suggestions!

We use a two canister system and a softener. Full timing for six years now and love it. You will also find many camping systems are on a well and will send you sand to filter out.

We have a two canister system from the water filter guy. 5 micron Sediment filter followed by a 1 micron carbon filter. We use it when we need it. Az is very bad .Florida water taste bad. We find good tasting water in most of the country. We do have a purity tester and never found water that tested bad in that area most of the water issues are taste/smell issues.

We just went with a single canister, old fashioned kind, but with a good filter cartridge. Usually only have to change it once a year, but it sure does pick up a lot of clay, dirt & whatever. The good part is if you forget to take it apart when winterizing (like I did once), it doesn't cost much to replace after freezing & breaking.

Single canister before a water softener. We use a brita for drinking water. But would like the install an RO system one day.

We also use a single canister before a softener. Also installed a separate Culligan charcoal filter with a separate dispenser at the kitchen sink to dispense cooking/drinking water.

I am using a 3 canister system. sediment 10m, GAK5m and ceramic .09 absolute. This will filter everything but some metals. The pressure drop is big ( about 5-10 psi output after filter) but I fill my fresh tank and use my on-board pump for pressure. I keep the fresh water tank sanitized as directed and the water going in from the filter is potable. From time to time depending on the location I add some Camco water freshener as the well water taste is still there at some places (it drives the wife nuts). The sediment and ceramic filters are cleanable and all are biostatic so they have a long life span.
