New 3711FL

Just picked up our new 3711FL. running thru everything yesterday I came across a few small items. Black and Grey valves miss labeled. easy fix just swaped labels, I may think about painting handles in the future. small propane leak on door side. I plan on removing the hoses and tapeing the pipe threads at the 30psi regulator and cross tube. Other side is oder free. The biggest issue so far is the bed slide. the bed has casters under it to roll across the carpet as it comes in and out. one of the casters has pulled free and is wedged between the bed and the floor so the wheel can not spin freely. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to fix this?

Black and Grey mislabeled? That's a new one! Pretty certain I saw a previous post w/photos by someone who had to fix the same problem.

They make 90 degree ratcheting screwdrivers for instances like yours. I have seen a few cases where the owner has mounted the wheel to the floor and let the bed frame slide on top of the roller.

The best way to fix it is to have the dealer do it. It requires a dis-assembly of the lower portion of the bed since the wheel is screwed up into the bed framing. Just did ours.

One would think they could get the labeling on the right valve, too much of a hurry and no QC.

The bed frame wheel was a problem on mine as well, I actually removed the whole bed frame because I wanted to make it better and I did that but the wheel could be done with the frame still in place. I added an extra piece of 1 x 2 and longer screws that hold the wheel on so now I don't have any worry about it happening again. Here is a picture of what I did... Good luck... you are better to fix it yourself than take it to the dealer who likely won't do more than replace the screws Keystone used.

I believe you said you were going to tap out the threads. Be very careful you don't get any metal chips inside the piping.

Only minor issues right out of the factory to deal with.

With the black and gray valves I believe you have to drop the belly cover and switch the tanks.

Ed is spot on, some of these issues if you are somewhat handy can be taken care of by yourself,it is too bad we have to do that but it beats hauling it to the dealer for something not that major AND heck I'm RETIRED I need something to do

Thanks. yes I dont mind fixing things and I would definetly consider these minor. Found the gas leak. the 1/2 female to 1/4 male npt reducer was cracked. they over tightned it and brass does not expand well. need a new fitting from the dealer. I will probably bring the trailer back to have the wheel castor fixed, as it will require disassembly of the bed frame

Again Thankyou for the replies.

WeBeFulltime.... Thanks for the Laugh!

Ed, I will have to take a closer look at how to disassemble the bed, but your option looks tempting. I do not see the photo you posted on your repair.

Not sure why you are not seeing the picture it appears to be showing on the forum post.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

One of the wheels broke loose on our bed. Instead of taking the bed frame apart, I removed the plywood panel under the small storage space to access the wheel location. I moved the bed slide several inches to allow me to use a lever to raise the frame up a bit from the floor. Instead of trying to use the same screws to attach the wheel, I instead drilled two holes through the wood and used machine screws, washers, and nuts to attach the wheel. I did not have a long drill bit with me, but used a drill bit with the 1/4" hex shank in my flex drive attachment for my drill. The wheel hasn't come loose since. One addition I will make, the next time I have to access the area under the bed, will be to add a couple of simple screen door handles to that plywood panel, to make it easier to remove.

Although the one wheel on my bed had twisted because the screws and support they go into was inadequate that was not the primary reason for removing my complete bed frame.
Like the wheels the bed frame is attached to the slide outer wall with a few screws that in my case went into nothing but the interior wall material, consequently the slide went out leaving the bed behind. I not only reinforced the wheel supports I also put screws in where staples had missed their mark in the whole bed frame, it is junk in my opinion. Mine is 100% better now and I will never have to worry about the slide going out without the bed again, that part was all beefed up as well.
So long story short it is another one of those things hidden behind the glitz and glamor of what you can see. No different than what one would see in most RV brands these days I am sure but then again I don't care about those ones, only the Montana and how it was built.

I don't consider this problem as a game changer, it is what it is and I was much more comfortable knowing I could fix it better than some young wood jockey at the dealer and did just that. It is however a good example of many things that are poorly constructed in our Montana's. The policy must be "get them out the door", with the thought they might/should last until the warranty is over and their responsibility ends.

Thank you for all the responses. I did unscrew the bed frome from the wall. It was alot easier than I imagined fliped the bed frame over and fixed the castor. I am thinking a castor that is not offset would have been a better choice. As it is now, it creates a pivot point and may rip out again. I did move the castor to a new location and used better screws. I think I will look for a suitable replacement that can withstand a load. I am not a heavy man, but the DW and I are still in love and I would hate for the bed to break again.....

Black & grey labels backwards- thought I was the only silly one. When I saw blue water coming from grey valve, I was pretty sure I knew what I was doing but the trailor did not. Refilled black and drained again to be sure. Must have been a Monday on assembly.

I think it was a mis-spell he's going to TAPE the threads.
