Water leaking from back quarter panels

We have a 2012 3150RL Montana and have a question. We filled our fresh water tank 3/4 full on our trip to Florida. First time we have ever carried water. We were traveling w/another couple who drove behind us. Upon stoping at a roadside park, my friend noticed that when I turned sharply to the right or to the left, water would come running out of the back end of the trailer, right side or left side depending on which way I turned. I am worried that perhaps the insulation got wet, not sure what would have caused this Anyone ever have this problem, if so, what was solution. Hate to have to take underbody loose to find out problem. Thanks.

When we travel the most water we carry is 1/3rd of a tank except we fill it before we go to Quartzite from a close campsite.

I don't think you will be able to figure anything out until you drop the belly. If you happened to be driving through rain, there is a possibility that it could be rainwater, although it sounds like something is amiss with the tank or the connections to the tank.

If the road was rough I would go with water out the vent. That's about where it would come out. Like the others, we only travel with 1/3 full.

Is the vent the same as the overflow? On our model this is in the convenience center. I am thinking it was there on the 3750 also, but not sure?

I am pretty sure the 2012 models still had a external fill port (and vent) at the rear. I suspect the fill line has come disconnected from the fresh water tank. Sharp turns allows water to escape and pool in the underbelly looking for an exit point. There should be an access panel at the rear corner of the coach on the street side. The screws holding the lid are hidden in the rug covering it. A quick peek in there may give you a clue ot the problem without having to drop the underbelly.

I think you are going to have to drop the bottom and look for the leak. My bet would be a loose hose. If the tank had a hole it would start leaking from the bottom when you are sitting still.

Sounds like the rear overflow vent. Try overfilling your tank and watch where the overflow water comes out. We have a small vent at the rear of the Monty where our overflow water comes out. I suspect, as your were driving the water was escaping from this vent.

I suspect the front living room models are different. Our fresh water tank is in the front of the rig, which would explain the overflow being in the convenience center. I assume all other rigs have the fresh water tank in the rear as our 3400 did.

I have had a similar problem on our 2011 3400. It is most noticeable when parking at home where the trailer is tilted to one side before reaching the parking pad. The dealer said it is not the fresh water tank and could not duplicate the problem when other work was being done. We have driven in rain and think that may be the problem. I have looked inside the belly at the rear and the water is accumulating on the bottom black covering on driver side at the rear near the fresh water tank. There isn't a leak when it is raining and parked at campgrounds or parked for a time at home. The fresh water tank has not been more than 1/3 full during these times and think one time it was empty on a trip.

I think Carl has it too. The part he is talking about is on the inside of the unit. You can see lots of the hookups from there. The fill tube is double clamped at the tank. As far as your insulation goes don't worry about that. It is up against the floor and has black web sheeting holding it. The silver insulation just above the black plastic bottom will dry out. The bottom will not be too bad to pull loose to look in there. You can probably do it without removing the 2 bars back there, they help support the tank when it is full. I would start where Carl said first. The pipes hooking up at the top may have come loose and you can get them there. They do use a better fill tube than they use to. The old ones would rot from the heat or ozone down here. Good luck

Bingo! I like your unit. It looks nice. Do you think the over flow on yours is in the conv. center because of the new sealed systems?

FYI. There is no outside fill on my 2013 3100RL. You fill the tank by hooking up to the city water connection and turning the handle in the convenience center to "Freshwater Fill" or something like that. There is an overflow vent at the driver's side rear corner of the camper.

John, my 2013 has the fill at the rear. I'm sure it was an early 2013. As far as your over flow, I didn't know one way or the other where the over flow was with the new systems. Just going by what Bingo said, his was in the convenience center and his tank is up front.

No one has mentioned that it might be an overfilled galley tank. If you’re not familiar with the shut off valve on the galley tank it could be full. On some models it would leak out the joints above the tank when full. I had that problem on my first Montana and when I started leaving the galley tank open I didn’t get any water in the belly skirt underneath anymore. Are you positive its fresh water?

I was wondering about that as well.
