Black Tank Drain Handle/Release broken

The Black Water handle in my trunk detatched. I pulled it (first time) and about a foot of aluminum rod came out with the handle. How do I approach this? From the bottom or do I disassemble the storage compartment?

You should be able to get to it from underneath. It probably just unscrewed. You should be able to use a 1/4 X 20 nut to use as a means of tightening the rod to the valve.

Been there, done that- Watched dealer's tech do repair- He made a 3 sided cut through the underbelly immediately below the handle exit and did the repair through that opening- The cotter key that held the 2 pieces of shaft together had fallen out- He covered the opening with a larger piece of underbelly and sealed it with some Dicor and put a screw in each corner of the patch to complete the job- I fixed the next failure myself- Easy job- Took less than an hour- Good luck!!! Don
