Definitely a good question. My internal 50 amp surge guard also works on 50 or 30 amp.

If you are talking about the mounting location, I mounted ours on the aluminum divider between the generator compartment and the battery compartment. Used a wooden backing plate that extended the height of the aluminum panel. If you are talking about purchase location, I got mine at Tweetys.com after they agreed to match the lowest internet price with free shipping (can't remember minimum but had other items). Jack, I went with the portable model and use a cable lock to lock it to the power pedestals. This way I can check the power pedestal BEFORE I park and hook up...Just my preference mind you.....
