Did you know your sliding table locks?
We really enjoy the sliding table and the little extension it has on it but I just discovered that you can lock the table in the centre if you want. There are two spring hinges under the table that you can flip up to lock the table.
I don't use the lock because we use the sliding feature all the time.
We somtimes both sit on the same side of the table when we want to watch TV and it is nice to slide the table away from us for more room.
I was thinking the table slide might stay tighter longer if you lock it for travel and I guess that is why the lock is there.
Up to now we have not used the locks and do you guys think this is something I should put on my "Ready to travel list"?

We use our locks all the time when travelling. We also screw the table down to be sure it doesn't tip over if we have to do a fast turn.

I really enjoy the sliding table, another great feature from Montana. I also lock it for travel, but do not strap down the chairs as they have never moved.

We lock ours for travel, unlock during setup. We do not screw the table down or tie the chairs down. Have had no trouble. We didn't do this with our previous 5er either.
Happy trails..........................

We always lock the table. We don't worry aboutthe chairs, cuz we turned the table 90 degrees and got rid of 2 chairs. The kitchen island makes sure the table and chairs don't fall over.
Sure do love the MONTY!

We keep the table locked, unscrewed, and turned it 90 degrees as Rickety did. We leave 3 chairs at the table and the other goes to the computer desk. When traveling we place a throw rug over the chair that is closes to the kitchen island just in case the table and/or chairs move. When we have company for dinner, we turn the table back to it's original way so we can seat 4.

The last unit I had, the table was not screwed down, and I never tied the chairs down, and they NEVER moved. This unit I lock the table from sliding (not like i ever had a problem with it), just for the fact it does lock....and I use the straps for the chairs that came with the unit....only because they are here. I doubt if they move at all, but since it came with the locking mechanism and strap I just use it. The sliding table is wonderful. All manufacturers should design their tables the same way...I don't miss my other table at all. Now, the recliners are a different story, those things definetly get strapped down good.

I tell everyone it is my FAT man table. Being a fairly large man I tend to like the table a lot. In fact it was one of the selling points for the Montana when we purchased it. I have decided I am going to unscrew mine from the floor and move it out about an inch so we have more room to operate the window shades. Sounds like no one is having any problems leaving them unscrewed anyway.

Ok, I'm either stupid (more likely the case) or our table doesn't slide. The only thing we have is a "leave" that you can extend on the end, is that what you're talking about? I'm with Fordzilla, our table it too close to the window, I'd like to move it out to more easily get to the blinds as well.

Hi Mac,
Our table will slide side to side (front to back the way it came in the unit)on the pedastal, I don't know maybe 6"
I'm like Ron, I need a few more inches to sit at than my wife does. It also has a flip up leaf.
We turn our table 90 degrees when travelling and took two of the chairs out.
I put 2 I-hooks under the top of the table and one in the floor by the couch 1' from the outside wall and one I-hook
in the floor right by the front wall 1' from the outside corner. I use 2 - 24" bungee cords to tie it down.
It did tip over and hit the counter once with out the cords.

Mac,
I have seen in the new 06 Montana's that Keystone has changed the table design. I do not think the new table slides, only has the extending leaf at the end now.

Dave,
DANG! I was hoping I'd missed something. I'm bringing it home tomorrow since we're taking it out this weekend and I'm giving that table a good look. I'm not the biggest person in the world, about 6'2" 200 but there is not a lot of room for me to sit, I was hoping that there was a fix. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Mac,
The first thing I did when I got the coach home was unscrew that darn table. The plant had it so close to the window the shade would not come down. Try that, I am sure it will allow for a few adjustments to make things a better fit.

Mac, you can view our solution to the crowded dining room under "Improvements". We think we're going to like this new arrangement.

Dave,
Whoooo hoooo, I have a sliding table! No mention of this all the times we looked at Montanas or in the PDI. That's why I LOVE this forum, you can find out things that the dealers don't know, or don't tell you. Now if that darned water heater works on electric!

Mac,
That is great news to hear!! Does your table also have the extending leaf on the end? How close to the window was the table placed??
