AC QUESTION

Just returned from FL. High temp and humidity but inside temp. stayed cool with both units running during daytime and only living room unit at night. I noticed that the living room unit cycled off and then back on at a 5-10 second interval after what seemed a normal cooling run time, hardly ever stayed off for a normal 10-30 minute period. Is this unusual? 2014 Mont. HC

Very well could be normal for a high country, but not normal for my model and we were in sw florida for over 18 straight months. John

Most AC's need to be off for at least 2 minutes before the compressor comes on again. Unless somethings changed on the new models that doesn't sound right.

We live in St. Petersburg, FL. Our 2015 343RL HC will not cool down below 80, even with both ACs cranking full blast. Which model HC do you have? Sounds like you were able to stay comfortable, at least. I'd say that the short cycling is not unusual for the humidity and heat we have here.

Check to see if the cold air is blowing directly towards the temperature sensor in the ceiling. if it is it will cause the AC to cycle more often. just turn the vent "thingys' a different direction. the temperature sensor is a little white round thing that is on the ceiling.

If your question is about the fast (5-10second) "cycling", then yes, that sounds normal.
When operated in the "AUTO" mode, the digital Dometic thermostats in our High Countrys are a little different animal than a conventional mechanical thermostat. They cycle to a high fan if the temperature is >5 degrees higher than the set point, and change to low fan if the temp is

Bama Camper, thanks , that sounds like what was probably happening. Firsterin, it is a 2014 HC 305 RL. Temp stayed 72 all day in Panama City with outside temps around 95,a little shade early and late.15,000unit in living room, 13,500 in bdrm. Bama Camper, we are from Pell City, maybe we'll see you some time.

OK, I'll keep an eye out for another 305RL around here. Although I have to tell you, I'm a little hesitant to go up and ask someone if they are the "tooth ferry"!! I might get carried away!
