Gas appears to shut off while traveling

While traveling our fridge shut down on gas. Just to trouble shoot I tried to light the gas stove. It would not light. When we set up in the campsite the stove and fridge work fine. When I go to just gas while in the camp site both work fine on gas. It's shut down two times now just while traveling. I try to light the stove in the rest stop to check and the stove will not light. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Steve

There is a baffle like cover over the igniter on most models. Would check to see if yours is in place. Maybe the flame is being blown out during road movement.

Thanks, what I don't understand is why the gas to the stove seems to shut down. When I've checked while traveling and the fridg goes out, I check the stove at a rest stop and try to ignite the stove and it doesn't seem to be getting gas to the stove. I checked and have a full bottle of gas.

Could it be that the fridg trying to light let's some air into the gas line? Unless someone has added something to your rig, they didn't come with that feature.

If the flame goes out, the igniter will try to relight and the gas line remains open. Maybe that is the reason, as Dick described. I know I always under those circumstances, have had to turn the frig off, then back on to relight.

We have the same trailer and had the same problem. Under the slide there is a 90 degree fitting where the gas line runs along the frame and then up into the trailer and if it is not angled correctly it will pinch off the rubber gas line shutting off both the fridge and stove. Slight angle change and all was good. Good luck.

Thanks folks. I'll check the baffle and
Bacfyr I will check on that. We are in our current spot for 1 week, so won't be able to determine until we start heading home next week.

Bacfyr,
Thanks, I looked under the slide this morning and there are two areas that the gas line appears to have been pinched. Will definitely watch when we pull the slide in next week.

I agree with Bacfyr. We have the same year and model and have had the same problem. With the slides in go under and readjust the hanger straps so the rubber hose doesn't have any kinks in it. That solved our problem. Good luck, safe travels. Ken

Bacfyr and Ken, thanks, that was the issue. now that we are back home I'm going to see if I can get the connector positioned so the gas hose retracts without putting a kink in the hose.

thanks
Steve

You might want to replace that hose if it has been kinked multiple times, especially if it was kinked in the same location more than once.

Another thing to think about... while traveling with the frig operating on propane (tank(s) open), if there were to be an accident and the Monty damaged, there is the possibility of a propane-fueled fire. Also if a tire were to blow, likewise the propane plumbing could be damaged, leading to a leak/fire.

I've found that firing up the refrigerator the night before and by utilizing a fan (http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...-airator/21016) really chills the frig. Loading pre-cooled/pre-frozen groceries in the morning and shutting the frig off just before putting the truck in drive will keep the contents in the "safe zone" on the thermometer. If you have frozen foods "upstairs" in the frig, even just an 8# bag of ice will keep it cool until you get to your mid- to late-afternnoon destination.

I've found that without the little fan in the frig, it's a "battle" to keep the contents safe.

Who has room for an 8# bag of ice?
Guess I keep too many leftovers from eating out......
