Hitch question

When we bought our 2007 Montana in October I had them install and receiver hitch. What I want to do it use a handicap scooter carrier to carry a handicap scooter. Total weight carrier and scooter about 280 lbs. I going to use a hitch anti wobble to help the carrier from bouncing.
What are the opinions of doing this?

I've seen several installations that looked sturdy but all of them were supported on the ends as well as by the hitch.

Your 2007 model most likely has the smaller 1-1/4" square tubing receiver hitch like came with my '09 Montana, it will not be up to the task, as it isn't even worth a damn for hauling just a couple of bicycles.

If you have an aftermarket 2" unit with 2" framing, or custom built one, or one of the newer 2" ones that come on the new Montana's retrofitted to your rig, you should be just fine.

Mine is a 2"receiver after market that looks like the dealer bolted it to the frame

I'd call Keystone and check with them. I wouldn't put anything that heavy on the back of my 07.

Some on the MOC feel if dust settles on the rear cap, the frame is in danger of imploding. Keystone will say it'll void the frame warranty ... since yours is an 07, I'd say that issue has past. I've pulled jetskis and boats behind 3 different Montana's since 2000 with no issue. #280 is not much different than having a full fresh water tank while traveling. In the Midwest you see gazillions of RVers pulling or hauling stuff behind their fivers. I've never seen an article in any of the regional papers as to a mishap concerning a hitch on any fiver. I would do some research as to some on here that have made their own hitches with twin receivers bolted to the frame that adequately stabilize the twisting more so than any center receiver. Now if you're going to tow a restored WWII Sherman tank ... I'll change my tune.
