Awning Replacement

Looks like our 7 year old awning material is about ready to end its career. I am thinking about a new automatic awning like those on newer Montanas. Anyone done this? I have not checked on the price--don't expect it to be cheap! But I really believe we will be in this rig for atleast 5-7 years more.

Tim

I replaced my manual awning with an electric awning in 2007. I am very happy with it. I purchased the electric awning with the wind sensor. It was a little more but it was a peace of mind thing for me. I purchased and had installed by CW. I have a 3400rl, they brought the electric and control wires thru the wall right above the metal beam between the front drawers and the dresser in front of the window in the bedroom. The wires run under the dresser into the bathroom sink and then down into the garage. The control unit is on the wall between the front storage and the main storage just inside the baggage door. I installed some trim that matches the oak in the 5r to cover the wires that show between the drawers and the dresser.

Sure is nicer to push a button, then it is to get up at 2am in the rain to bring down a manual awning because of sudden change in seather.

Bob and Mike, Thanks for the info. Good plan to use CW. Bob--we met in the Great Smokey Mountains in 2008--nice to hear from you. Again, Great info.
