Teaching moment
As we were setting up yesterday a couple pulled in next to us with a brand new SOB. They saw me hooking up my Progressive EMS and then moving it to the other electrical outlet and came over to ask what I was doing. I explained the function of an EMS, they didn't even have a surge protector, and then showed them that the first outlet had an open ground. It doesn't happen often, but my EMS has kept me out of trouble on a number of occasions.

Same here - after 2 years of FT'ing, our EMS found an open ground when we were in a CG in Portland, Maine. It's also saved us a couple times when voltage was too low/high.
They're not inexpensive, but well worth the initial cost in potential more expensive repairs and inconveniences down the road.

Ditto here. Open ground at a casino campground in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Saved my butt, got a new (better site) and all was well.
Only drawback I've found is that I don't believe I can connect to a 30 amp circuit when that's all that's available. But I've found a cure for that. I've got a spltter cord that will allow me to plug into two 30 amp circuits or one 30 amp and one 20 amp circuit to get my required 50 amp circuit. This splitter wasn't cheap ($75) but it works great!

I'm not sure what brand and model you have, but the box that had the open ground was a 30amp. I just plug my adapter into the 30amp box and then into the progressive EMS and it's good to go.

You can use the 50 amp surge protector (either brand) on a 30 amp circuit. Just use a 50 to 30 amp adapter
As for the 30/20 amp connecter you should do a Search on them here. Besides not providing 50 amp power, they have other potential issues.

X2 Dick, My Progressive EMS has also protected me numerous times from Low Voltage, Open Ground, and Frequency issues. I would never be without one again. Very cheap insurance for sure!

After we found low voltage on line one with ours we spent about a hour driving around the C.G with the C.G owner finding the problem. We got free camping out of that.

No that really makes the unit worth while. A new definition of paying for itself.

I like teaching moments, sometimes I'm the student and occasionally the teacher. We have been saved by our Surge Guard when lightening struck our farm shop on full hook ups where we store it during our stays at the stick house.
