Water Pump

I'm interested in replacing our stock Flojet Triplex Diaphragm 3526-144 with somthing quieter like a variable speed pump. Has anyone had done this and how much trouble was it? I did a forum search and found some dialogue, but no real experiences with repalcement. I've tried the mouse pad and isolating the plumbing around the stock pump and it is still noisy.

Yes, I have replaced the Flojet with a Shurflo 5.x (cannot remember the exact number). The toughest part was getting back under the furnace area where the pump is located. I have a 3400RL. Just check the wiring color scheme and I added 3' of hose to the pump, in a coil, to assist in quieting the pump and plumbing.
At this point, I have elected to box in the area in the basement where the white plasic cover, on an angle, was located. I made the sides sliding doors to allow for easy access for working in the area. I have moved the pump into this are and I plan on adding a water filter in this space as well.

There is an add-on kit that you buy at Camping World etc. that will convert your existing pump to a flow controled version. We added this to our pump with good results and much less costly than replacing the whole pump.

kjtogo,
I have e-mailed you some info on how I quieted my pump without replacing it. All the info came from this website and worked extremely well. You may be able to find the info by doing a search for noisy water pumps??? Anyway, I hope the info in the e-mail helps.
