Well, not exactly. Middlebury Hardwoods, http://mhpi.us/ has been the manufacturer of the doors, face frames, and other components for these rigs and then Montana assembles them into the rigs. That is the one thing that sets the Montana line apart from some other brands, that they aren't using plastic covered particle board to make the cabinets. The parts that Middlebury makes are high quality, while, yes, assembly in the rigs can be lacking.

Bob, they install the cabinet they get from a separate manufacturer. Montana used to use Middlebury Hardwoods but I don't think they are manufacturing them for Keystone/Montana anymore.
Jim, I do not recall who is doing the manufacturing but if one calls Keystone Customer Service they might be able to tell you which company made the cabinets for the 2016 units.

Maybe that’s why people aren’t as happy with the cabinets now. I wasn’t real impressed with them in new Montana rigs we happened to be in a few months ago with a cousin who is shopping for a new trailer.

If that is the door over the steps I suggest that you make it out of foam rubber. It will be easier on your head.

What I plan on is the take the upper door and make it shorter to cover just the upper storage area. Make a new lower door that covers the electrical control panel with a smoked Lexan insert. The hinges will be on the top of the door so it will be closed when you release it and you will be able to see the lighted switches without opening the door and hitting my head when I forget to close the door just like every one else. I will post pictures when completed. The doors are made from Hard Maple if anyone needs the info

I would be very interested in knowing what the wood and stain they use. I enjoy making and modifying cabinets and an exact match would make it look a lot better.

What I found out is the wood in our 5er his Hard Maple and the stain is Cherry Zinfandel. They had to call the manufacturer which they would not tell me who that is.

I hope someone can come up with a source of the cabinet finish (suspect it's a non penetrating one step lacquer). It appears that many HCs are done in Inspire Cherry Glaze. Our cabinets around the bottom are starting to get a few dings around the bottom edges.
